Indie's POV

"Indie, it's ridiculous. I'm not buying you a brand new luggage set when we have a perfectly good one you can use here."

"Mom, I can't use that one. It was Nora's. It wouldn't feel right." I said.

"Indie, you have got to move on. You can't let the accident and Nora's death haunt you forever. You are using the luggage set we have here and that's final."

I sighed, then turned around and went up to my room.

Why couldn't I move on?

I laid down on my bed and suddenly my world was spinning. I shut my eyes, trying to block out the memories.

"Indie! Come on, slowpoke. My gynecologist appointment is in 20 minutes. Don't you want to find out if you'll have a niece or a nephew?" Nora asked me, placing one hand on her belly.

"No!" I shouted.

"Why not?" She asked me.

"Because the baby will take up all of your time. You won't spend time with me anymore."

"Oh Indie. Come here." She said, hugging me.

"The baby will take up a lot of my time but I won't forget about you. I'll always have time for you. You're my little sister."

I hugged her.

"Now, let's go. We're going to be late."

Nora drove faster than usual. She was speeding around a corner when suddenly-WHAM!- a drunk driver hit us.

"Nora!" I screamed.

Silence.

"NORA! Nora, answer me! Answer me, please!" I yelled, crying.

I tried to find her pulse but I couldn't find one. I grabbed Nora's cellphone and called 911.

"Hello?" A man said.

"Hi. Um, my name is Indie Johannan, I'm 12 years old and my sister and I have just been in a car crash and my sister isn't answering me and I can't find her pulse and she's pregnant please send help." I said, starting to cry.

"Can you tell me where you are?"

"I'm at the intersection across from Lakeside High School and Fairfield neighborhood."

"Ok, Indie, I have ambulances, and the police on their way. I need you to stay calm and stay where you are."

My tears turned into sobs. The police men were the first to arrive.

"Hi, Indie, my name is Officer Eric. My partner here is Office Ryan. Can you tell us what happened?"

"We were on our way to the gynecologist to find out the gender of my sister's baby but a drunk driver hit us." I told Officer Eric.

"Where is your sister now, Indie?"

"She's still in the car. She's not answering me and I couldn't find a pulse." I said.

When the officers heard that, they rushed over to the drivers seat.

"Ryan, call the fire department . We won't be able to get her out of here."

I let out a sob when I heard that.

"Is- is my sister dead?" I asked Officer Eric.

He avoided the question.

"Is there a number I can reach your parents at? They need to be here." Officer Eric said.
