Chapter 13

"Take a seat dear, make yourself comfortable" the Ceo said looking at me with an unreadable expression.

"I called you apart because I wanted to congratulate you for your good work, and I wish that you tell me with perfect details how are you guys managing then Nano technology at the convection." I gulp silently and started telling him that it was lot of days of leaving work late, trying to fix some details and how did we finally   put the pieces into place, so the nano technology could work , actually better than the one that was planted before, with the help of matt and Dr. Bernard.

He just nodded at my explanations and told me to go back to work, a bit uncomfortable because he was just asking these questions about the project and that he's hoping everything comes out alright. When I got out of the office Dr Bernard was stood up with his arm crossed  at the end of the corner, I stepped back surprised.

"What are you doing here?" I told him a bit confused.

"Just waiting for you to get back to work". He spat back 

"Oh" I simply said

We were walking  down the hall on our way to the lift   when I was about to make a step into the lift , Dr. Bernard suddenly reached out  to grab  my  wrist and pulled me  closer like in a possessive move, looking right into my eyes , he seemed a bit tensed.

"What did the Ceo tell you?". He said without letting go of his grip.
"Nothing he just wanted to me to keep him updated about the convention."  I said  trying to let go his hold but he did not  let go, he got closer to my face instead, too close to my lips  and I felt like I was burning inside,  he just stared at me and then let go of his grip. Then the lift opened up again and we got inside, we were   alone, but this time we weren't as close as we were before and he just put his hand on his pockets.

"I'm sorry " He said with pleading eyes.

"What was that about?"  I said not wanting to remember the moment minutes ago, how we were so close that our lips almost connect, but he was tense, I have never seen him like this before like in an overprotective way and we are not even related , he's just  an acquaintance  I don't know why he got like that.

"Nothing you've got to worry about, and it won't happen again". Anger seems to show up in his words.

"Oh alright, here comes the ass again I was hoping we have left behind, sorry but  you don't have the righ- ".  When the lift opened up and a surprised matt came into the way.

The atmosphere was tensed, as if like you were playing fruit ninja, words could be cut like that.

"Matt can you please tell me why is your friend so interested on the talk I got with the Ceo? I just don't get it sometimes."

Matt just stood there without showing any expression looking at his friend, while I was there hoping for answers.

"Okay no answers, great! See you guys later!" and I stared walking down to the lab, when I felt Matts grip.

"Let her go Matt, we will talk later for lunch". Matt just nodded.

Did Dr Bernard invited me for lunch? What's going on with him?

During the whole morning, we were working just fine, a little bit of tension was pressed into the atmosphere but at the end of the morning, it was everything just work.
At lunch time 

We went to a small place called "Café de Paris", it was small but unique. We asked for a table for 3 and then we were looking at each other not wanting to say a word. Matt excused himself to go to the bathroom, it was lie he probably escaped from what was going to happen next.
I grabbed my glass of water and started drinking, Dr. Bernard just looked at every movement that I was doing, he coughed and then   I knew he was about to speak.

" Listen Monserrat, I'm sorry I looked a little bit irritated about the talk you've got with the Ceo is just that I don't trust him, he can be really tricky at times, so it's better if you watch out ". He finally spat.

"Couldn't you just have told me that before and stop acting like that?" He looked at me  with any expressions on his face, he just stared with that beautiful hazel eyes he's got, I can't believe  I'm going to travel with this guy tomorrow, hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

Oh lord have mercy.
