"Attention passengers, we are now landing in Echo Creek, California." I hear the pilot speak through the intercom. I look out the window to see a beautiful valley with a huge neighborhood. Around 20 minutes later, we landed on the runway. As the plane was pulling in, I began gathering the things that sat around my seat.

"Ready for a new life?" I look to my Auntie Marie as she was gathering her stuff also.

"Yeah. Can't wait to meet some new people!" I hesitantly say, hating my response almost immediately.

"Haha! You are a lot like your mother. She was always nervous about change." Aunt Marie fakes a smile as she hugs me. I hug back and fake a smile, too. "She would be so proud of you." She looks at me with confidence and pride.

"Thanks, Auntie." I smile and hear the flight attendants start requesting people to quickly get their things and luggage. We got up and grabbed our luggage, shoving some little items into them hurriedly. We walked into the air bridge and into the airport. Saying "it was loud" was an understatement. Everyone was basically yelling to each other in the crowd that disembarked the plane we were previously on. Trying to speak over everyone, I ask Auntie, "Where do we go?!"

Auntie Marie shouts back, "We look for a sign with our names!" After a few minutes, we spotted the sign and the one holding it was my Auntie's friend, Rafael Diaz. "Rafael!" Auntie ran up to him and side-hugged him. She pulled away and smiled.

"It's been a while!" Rafael says with a smile and a foreign tone. It sounded a little bit Mexican or something in that accent range. "Oh! And who do we have here?" Rafael said, awaiting a name.

I was standing next to my Auntie, holding tightly onto my suitcase's handle, "I'm Y/n. I'm Marie's niece." I looked around nervously.

Rafael smiled sadly, "I am sorry about your mother, Y/n. Marie told me everything." Rafael said as he started grabbing a few of our things being as polite and caring as he could.

"Let's not mope around for too long when we have a new house to get to!" Auntie smiles after what she said.

"Yeah... Let's go." I say as we leave the crowded airport.

Rafael dropped us off at our new house with our things and suitcases. The furniture was supposedly arriving tomorrow, so we had to sleep on the floor for the night. I started unpacking to find my blanket I brought for the plane ride and stopped when I found a picture of my mom. I stared at it remembering the way I reacted when seeing my mom. I put the picture on the floor beside the spot my bed was gonna be.

"Y/n! We have guests!" Auntie Marie calls from the living room. I hurry downstairs to see a sunny blonde girl. "Y/n, this is Star Butterfly!" Auntie Marie says, looking between her and I expectantly.

"Hey! Nice to meet you, Y/n!" Star said trying to make me feel as comfortable as possible.

"Hey, it's nice to meet you too." I say as I shove my hands into my hoodie pocket.

"Your h/l h/c hair is so pretty!" Star compliments and smiles.

"Thanks. Why don't we go sit on the living room floor?" I suggest sarcastically.

"Sure!" Star unexpectedly replies. We walk over to an empty wall and sit down, beginning to chat here and there. Along with the nice chats, we exchanged numbers.

Star went home after about 2 hours and it was time for bed. So, I went upstairs and got into my pajamas, which was a nice f/c tank top with cute 2/f/c pajama bottoms. I laid down on my f/c sleeping bag and fell asleep instantly.

In the morning, I wake up to see the laser puppies sleeping in their bed. I stretch, yawn, and get ready for an AMAZING Sunday! I get up and do my morning routine, go downstairs, and eat breakfast. My best friend, Marco, comes falling down the stairs. "Marco?! Are you okay?!" I ask, worried.

"I just tripped. Don't worry, Star," He rubs his knee and sighs, "I'm bored. Can we do something fun?" Marco looks up to me with a very bored look as he leans on his now bruised knee.

"Hmmmmmmmmmmm..." I start thinking, then the idea comes to me. "Sleepover?!" I suggest excitedly. I shake him violently saying please.

"Okay! Fine! Who do we invite then?" Marco asks.

"The new girl in town, Jackie, Pony Head, Janna, Ferguson, Alfonzo, and Oscar." I start to think what to do at the sleepover and start squealing.

"We need one more boy then." Marco says in a annoyed tone.

"Oh, who else?" I say, thinking of who else there could possibly be. Suddenly, the ground shakes and flames rise in a pillar, lowering again to reveal Tom.

"Ugh, Tom? What are you doing here?" Marco says as he stands up from sitting on one of the steps.

"Duh, coming to the sleepover, of course!" Tom says with excitement.

"Sorry, Tom. You're not coming." I say crossing my arms.

"And why not?" He says, looking disappointed.

"Cause you tried to get rid of Marco and get me to be your girlfriend, what was it? More than once which is way too many times!" I say as I glare at him.

"If I promise to leave you two alone, will you let me come?" He looks at me with a serious face, holding his hand out.

"Fine." I say as I grabbed and shook his hand.

"Yes! See you guys at...?" He asks, waiting for one of us to say the time.

"It's at 7:00." Marco said as he walked to the kitchen.

"Right, see you guys at 7:00." And with that, he disappeared in quick flames.

I got off the floor from my sleeping bag, groggily, and checked the time. It was about 10:00 so I headed downstairs. Aunt Marie was finished making breakfast and had a plate set up for me.

"Good morning, Y/n! You slept a little bit over then what you were planning to wake up at, huh?" Auntie Marie says sounding a little annoyed.

"Yeah, the floor was a bit stiff... Is there something wrong, Auntie?" I say looking at her, worried. "No, no! Nothing's wrong, sweetie!" She said quickly.

"Auntie, I know you. There's something wrong, am I right?" I ask a little worried.

She sighs, "Yes, I have to pay the bills a bit earlier than usual."

"I can help. I'm old enough to get a part-time job." I say, reassuringly.

"Really? I thought you said you were looking for something fun; not work." She said starting to frown again.

"If it's to help you, then yes. I will get a part-time job." I said happily.

"Oh, thank you, Y/n!" She ran up to me and hugged me. Well, squeeze me. "I have to go to work, so tell me when you get part-time!" She yelled to me as she ran out the door. She got in her car and left.

As I sat down to eat some of the breakfast Auntie cooked for me, I got a text from Star. I checked the message and responded.

Star: Hey, I'm setting up a sleepover for me and my friends! Wanna come?

Y/n: Sure.

Star: Yay! It starts at 7:00!

Y/n: Okay. See you then!

As I went upstairs to get ready, the moving truck came. Auntie just left and I was just about to head out. I didn't know what to do, so I quickly got ready and headed outside to greet the movers.
