Mikey and Rosie

Rosie and Mikey

Here they lay on Rosie's bed talking about everything and anything.
Mikey dipped a strawberry in nutella before feeding it to Rosie. "I remember once I brought regular chocolate instead of nutella."
Rosie giggled at such a simple memory tucked away in the back of her mind, "I remember that, I also remember that I still ate the strawberries they just weren't as yummy as nutella covered strawberries!"
"I could tell you didn't like it because you hesitated a little before you ate anything, from then on I made a mental note to always bring strawberries with nutella." Mikey said smiling at the girl.
"And you could tell I didn't like it all because I simply hesitated?" She questioned the boy.
"I know you pretty well by now Ro." Mikey said and watched Rosie's face alter. "What's wrong?"
"When did you start calling me Ro?"
"I don't know to be honest. I guess it kinda just stuck since the entire school started calling you Ro." Mikey said, "Do you not like being called Ro?"
"I mean i don't care, but I really prefer-"
Mikey interrupted her when a memory played in the back of his mind "Rosie, you prefer Rosie"
Surprised Rosie questioned further, "How'd did you know I was gonna say that"
"Cause I gave you that nickname remember." Mikey said with a soft smile.
"You did?"
"Remember back then everyone used to call you Rosa. But by the time we were around 6 or 7, I wanted to be special to you, so I guess younger me thought if I called you a different name that only I said I would be special so I called you Rosie."
Rosie put the strawberries and nutella on her bedside table and snuggled next to Mikey, "Why'd you stop calling me Rosie?"
"To be honest I don't know" Mikey said sadly, looking at the girl, and smiled brushing his fingers through her hair.
"Rosie?" Mikey said anxious to ask her a very simple question.
"Yeah" Rosie said smiling wide because Mikey had already made a mental note to stop calling her Ro.
Mikey took a deep breath in trying to keep his cool, "You're still going to Homecoming with me right?" The question has been bothering Mikey all day, even when he was with Sydney, or Karen, or at practice, he could feel her slipping away from him and falling right into the hands of south side trash: Lip Gallagher. But Mikey knew that the only person he should actually be blaming is himself.

She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, "Of course I'm going with you. Why wouldn't I be?"
"Just making sure." Mikey said moving his hand from her head to arm and pulling her closer to him. His fingertips grazed the bracelet he gave her weeks ago, and smiled knowing she's kept it on.

Mikey presses a soft kiss on Rosie's forehead. The girl who's been with him since he could remember. The girl who knew Mikey was more than just a quarterback, or just some good looking guy. The girl he couldn't bare to lose. Cause without her, Mikey would have no one.
No one who knew him the way Rosie does; she knew him better than he honestly knew himself.

But here lies that boy who has the perfect girl, who's had her for what seems like forever now. He's got the girl who knows him better than anyone. Already within his grasps. But he threw the simplicity out the second he slept with someone else.

He has it all; fame, money, power, glory, and most importantly to him he has Rosie.

But he still threw it away. He threw her away.

And even he doesn't know the reason why, he just did it cause he could, cause he was able to.

"I should probably go home tonight." Mikey said getting up from Rosie's queen bed.

"Do you have to?" Rosie asked.

Mikey looked back and looked at Rosie. She smiled at him causing his heart to skip a beat.

She's always had the sweetest smile, and kindest eyes.

Her bright green eyes pierced through him, she radiated with warmth and gentleness. It hurt him having to look at her sweet face, knowing she's been there forever, and that he has a secret that could ruin her.

"I already told my parents I'd come home tonight." Mikey said standing up completely and looking back at Rosie, and watching her get comfortable for bed.

"Oh have you not been going home or something lately?" Rosie questioned.

The question caught Mikey off guard, especially since he knew exactly where he's been, Gianna's house, Sydney's house, Karen's house...

"Yeah, I've been hanging out with the team, helping them practice especially with the homecoming game. They really wanna win" Mikey lied with ease.

"Oh okay! Well goodnight, I'll see you tomorrow?" Rosie said sweetly.
"Yeah I'll pick you up!" Mikey responded as he picked up her blankets and comforter and laid it across Rosie's body. "Good night Rosie."

Lip walked next to Ian on his way to school like every morning. He was only a couple blocks away when a nice white SUV slowed down to stop near them.

"Shit are we about to get jumped?" Ian blurted before the window of the car rolled down revealing Rosie.

"Hey, I know school's only a couple blocks away but do you guys need a ride?" Rosie offered the two Gallagher boys, but before Lip could even answer he made immediate eye contact with Mikey.

Lip who was quick on his feet made an excuse "Thanks Rosie, but I'm talking to Ian about something important, so we need our brotherly bonding time" He explained slugging his arm around Ian's shoulder. Ian smiled and watched as Rosie nodded, and Mikey drove away.

Ian sighed and brushed off Lip's arm from his shoulder, "You know for Rosie being smart and all, she's really oblivious to you and Mikey's obvious tension." Lip shrugged at the response, and continued walking in silence ahead of his brother.

Ian watched him walk away before running up and catching up to Lip, "I think I'm gonna tell Rosie what Mikey's doing" Ian announced causing Lip to stop in his tracks.

"Why are you even looking out for her, she's just a North Side girl who'll forget about us once she graduates." Lip exclaimed at the red head. Lip took a deep breath in and looked up into the sky and whispered to his brother, "If you tell her it'll break her, she's basically been in a relationship with that guy all her life, and she's been 100% committed to him. I don't know shit about love, but I do kinda know Rosie, this would gut her. And yeah she's rich and all and can probably fly out of the state if she wanted to, but she's doesn't take the easy route. She's got a ticket out of here because she works for it in school and if we tell her this then who knows how she'd react"

Ian looked at his brother, whose eyes were filled with worry and anxiety. Ian simply nodded in understanding and continued along the path towards school.

They walked in silence most of the way, Ian glanced at his brother every now and then, slightly shocked at his sudden outburst, when not even a second before Lip was talking about Rosie like she was just another North Side student.

And as the Gallagher brothers finally reached the front entrance, something within Ian clicked causing him to stop and look at his older brother who continued to walk through the entrance doors of their school.
