Sernitiy got out of her desk, ready to head to the cafeteria. Near the doorway, she turned to see Daniel blocking her her. She gasped, suprised, but then rolled her eyes once she realized who he was.
"You," she breathed.
"Hi, Seri! I can call you that, right? Anyways, I saw you got my note. But, I don't get why you threw it away. I mean, crumpled it up and all. But, that's okay! That's probably just what you do with letters. So, I was wondering if I could sit next to you in lunch, today! Can I?"
Serinity's brain felt like it was on overload hearing all of those high-pitched words all at once. It took a second to process all of them.
"No, call me by my full name Daniel. And no, you can't sit next to me. Thanks. Bye." She said, sounding drained. She always sounded drained.
"Oh, okay. Thanks anyways!" As Serinity started to walk away, uninterested, he tried to catch up with her. "And you can call me Danny, by the way!" He ran out of breath trying to keep up with her and swim through the crowd of people blocking his way.

Daniel laughed at his friends, swarming around his table. He was having a good time. Then he looked over at Serinity, sitting alone and miserable stabbing her fork into her carrots. That's when Danny knew to take action. Who puts a fork in a carrot?!
He quickly got up with his plate and walked up to Serinity's table and sat next to her.
"Hi, Seri! I know you didn't want me to sit next to you, like you said yesterday, but you looked like you needed help. Who sticks a fork in a carrot?" He said, cheerily.
She looked at him emotionlessly in response, sticking the fork with the carrot in her mouth and chewing. Danny watched intensely.
"Um, that's not how you eat it, Seri! Look!" He grabbed a carrot from her plate and sticked it in his mouth. He chewed with a big grin on his face. Once he finished chewing, he smiled with bits of carrot stuck in between his teeth.
"See?" He asked, proudly.
Ignoring his demonstration, Serinity sticked her fork into another carrot and poked it into her mouth. Danny shook his head.
"No, no, no. Not like that!" He had not a single hint of anger in his voice. "Well, if you're not going to eat them right, I will!"
He quickly grabbed another carrot from her plate and popped it into his mouth. Then another. And another. Serinity started getting annoyed, as she was still gnawing slowly on one. She grabbed her plate and took it out from his reach. He reached farther, and she held it out farther. Finally he put his hand down and pouted. She also put her plate down, sticking her fork into her third carrot. But, swiftly, Daniel grabbed the last carrot and ate it triumphantly.
In repsonse, she just glared at him, stood up, picking up her tray, and walked away.
