Josefina's POV

I was still running. I didn't want to stop because I was scared that they would find me and drag me back if I stopped. I didn't want to go back there. I never want to see that pack again, nor anyone that was a part of that pack. I just kept running till I got to my aunt's pack border. I went behind a tree, put my clothes back on, and texted my aunt.

A While later, I saw two men come out of the woods, and they made a gesture to follow them. I grabbed my bag full of a couple of things and followed them. We walked for what felt like forever. We soon made it to a substantial-looking mansion. It looked nice.

'Wow. This place is amazing.' I thought to myself.

The guys in front of me chuckled but kept walking anyway. We got to the front door, and the men walked in. I walk in after them and immediately see my Aunt Maddison. I ran straight to her and hugged her.

"Oh, my sweet, sweet niece. I have missed you so much," she says as tears fall on her face and I'm balling in her arms.

'I missed you too.' I sign back, still balling my eyes out.

We then hear someone clear their throat. We stop hugging, and I turn around. I lock eyes with the most handsome man in the world. I then smell the most intoxicating scent. It smelt of blue raspberry and rain. I know a weird combo, but it has the best smell in the world. I just didn't expect the following words that come out of his mouth.

"Mate!"

'No. Not an Alpha.' I thought, shaking my head.

No, my mate cannot be an alpha. This can't be. I have hated alphas since Marcus gang-raped me with his buddies. But I hated him even before that. Ever since I was little, Marcus has always treated me like shit. He beat me behind everyone's back before my parents died. I have just believed that every alpha is the same but hide it. I have always hated my life at that pack because of him.

'Auntie, Can I know where my room is?' I sign to her.

"Of course, you can, sweetie, but what's wrong?" She asks with a worried and confused look on her face.

'Everything is fine. I am just tired. I just had a long run and feel a bit sleepy.' I sign to her.

"O--Why doesn't she talk?" says my mate, and I flinch at his voice.

"Alpha, I don't know why she stopped talking. After her parents, my sister and brother-in-law's death, she didn't feel like talking anymore and came accustomed to signing instead of talking." She tells him the half-truth about why I don't talk.

"I see. Would you translate what she says to us?" he asks.

"Yes, Alpha." My Aunt says."Can we take her to my house to get her situated?"

"Yes, but be here in the morning so we can have a meeting about her situation," he says to my aunt while looking at me.

"Of course, Alpha." my aunt bows before guiding me to her home.

My aunt doesn't live in the packhouse. She lives in her home on the pack lands with her husband and kids. We have been walking for a little bit and soon make it to her house. We walk in, and I see my uncle and cousins on the couch watching TV.

"I'm back, everyone, and guess who I have with me." says my aunt.

"Who is it?" says Erica, still looking at the TV and my uncle and another cousin, Mitchell.

"Why don't you people look to find out cause I'm not telling you," says Aunt Madison.

Everyone in the room turned their heads towards us, and all their eyes widened, and I think Erica's jaw dropped. Erica was the only one that got up immediately. She hugged me so tight that I had to pull away to grab some oxygen. She smiled shyly and apologized, and I just brushed it off and smiled slightly.

"Josie, what are you doing here?" asked Mitchell.

'I had to get out of that horrid place.' I sign. 'By the way, where am I sleeping?'

"I will show you, honey." Aunt Madison says and motions for me to follow her upstairs.

"Jo, later, let's hang out and talk," Erica says while smiling at me.

I nodded and followed my aunt to where I'd be staying. She led me up the stairs and down the hall. When she stopped in front of a door and opened it, Aunt Madison gestured for me to enter the room. I glanced at her, and she walked into the room.

The room was beautiful. The walls were light blue and hardwood floors, while the bed was along the wall with blue covers and sheets. There was a white desk on another wall with some writing utensils on top.

"This room is beautiful, auntie." I sign to her.

"Thank you, sweetie." She smiled. "I've had this room ready for you for a while. I knew you would leave that awful pack one day to come here."

"Thank you for being one of the few people who care and helping me get away from that place."

As the tears welled up in her eyes, she hugged me as if her life depended on it. Like Aunt Madison needed to know that I was real. That I was really in front of her right now. I hug her back, and tears well up in my eyes. Soon she lets go and tells me to get comfortable and settled.

I put my bag down and started to unpack what little I had into the closet and dresser. Once I put what little I had in both places, I put the bag under my bed. I sat down on the bed and just looked around. It has been such a long time since I had a real room with a bed and actual furniture. I soon lay down on the bed, and right when my head hit the pillow, I was out like a light.
