Mute and Abused Mate

Chapter Five

Josefina's POV

I wake up and look around. I start to freak out. I soon remember I'm not in that pack anymore. I left for Aunt Madison's pack. I'm surprised I didn't have a nightmare while I slept like I usually do.

I get up out of the bed and head to the window. I look out and see that it is slightly dark out. My eyes widen. I slept the whole day! I guess the exhaustion from doing everything for that pack and only getting so much sleep, and food caught up to me. I walk to the door and open it. I head downstairs and look around for everyone.

"Hey Jos, dinner is almost ready so just take a seat where ever you like." says Uncle Thomas smiling at me from the dining room door waving me in.

I walk into the dining room behind Uncle Thomas and see everyone sitting at the table except Aunt Madison, who is finishing up dinner. I take the empty seat between Erica and Mitchell. They all smile at me and say hi. We were all having small talk when Aunt Madison came into the dinner. She made tater tot casserole.

"Alright, everyone, dig in." everyone grabs their plate and mounds them with the delicious food Aunt Mads made. "Jose, did you have a nice rest?"

'Yes, I did.' I sign.

"Jos, did you finish school while at that pack?" asks Uncle Thomas. I shake my head at him, showing I didn't. "Can I ask why?"

'They didn't think I needed an education since all I will ever be is the pack slave.' I start. 'They told me I will never amount to anything even if I did have an education.'

I can feel the anger radiating off everyone in the room. I can tell they are trying to hide it from me. All I do is smile at them to let them know it's alright. They all slowly calm down and smile back at me.

"We can enroll you in an online school to get your diploma. We can also pay for college if you want to go unless you get a scholarship to go to one." says Uncle Thomas.

'I'd like to finish my school year and college... I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.' I tell them.

"After we talk to the Alpha tomorrow, we will start your enrollment." says Aunt Madison. I smile at them and continue eating my food.

Next Morning

I just got out of bed and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready for the day. After doing all the business, I needed to do in the bathroom then exited to change clothes. I change into a long-sleeve shirt and jeans from what little I brought with me. I walk out of the room I was given and head downstairs to join Aunt Madison.

"I made a simple breakfast so we could eat before going to see the Alpha. So eat up, and then we will leave." says Aunt Mads.

I nodded and sat at the table, and dug into the food. As I was eating, I heard the front door. I soon heard giggling from someone from the next room. I look toward the dining room door since the giggling is getting louder, and a muffled voice before the door opens.

"Mitchell, stop. This is your parent's house." says a girl with Mitchell.

"Don't worry, my parents are sleeping, and everyone else is asleep, " Mitchell replies, embracing the girl.

"Good morning Mitchell and Evelyn." says Aunt Mads taking a sip of her tea.

Mitchell and the girl who I now know as Evelyn freeze where they are. They both look in our direction with wide eyes. I wave at them and continue with my food.

"Uh... Hey mom... Jose... Uhhh... Good morning." Mitchell stutters while rubbing the back of his neck with one hand but keeping the other around Evelyn. "I thought you guys would still be asleep."

"Apparently, you forgot that Josefina and I will be meeting with the Alpha this morning." Aunt Mads tells Mitchell with a straight face while eating her breakfast. "Since you are awake, why don't you introduce Evelyn to Josefina."

"Uhh, right, Evelyn, this is my cousin Josefina. Josefina, this is my mate, Evelyn." Mitchell introduces us.

"Oh, you're the cousin that Mitch told me about. It's nice to meet you, Josefina, " Evelyn says, holding her hand out.

'It's nice to meet you too.' I sign to her with a smile before shaking her hand.

"She says it's nice to meet you." Mitchell tells her. "Jose doesn't talk, but I will tell you what she says when she signs."

"Oh, I never met anyone that signs before. Maybe Mitch can teach me so I can talk to you without someone's help." Evelyn says to me.

I smile at her and finish the remaining of my food. Aunt Mads also finished her food. She took her plate and mine into the kitchen and put them in the sink. I stand when Aunt Mads comes back and say bye to Mitchell and his mate Evelyn before going out to Auntie's car.

We leave the house and head to the packhouse. As we get closer, I get nervous and anxious. I still can't believe the goddess would do this to me. Why would she make my mate a fucking alpha? Did I do something wrong in a past life or something? Alphas are all the same. They show one side of themselves to the pack and show their true selves behind closed doors.

"Jose, we're here." I hear Aunt Mads say.

I look out the car window and see that we are truly here. I unbuckle the seat belt and get out of the car. Aunt Mads walks up next to me, and I grip her arm as we walk inside the packhouse. Aunt Mads gives me a worried look and rubs my hands that are holding onto her arm.

When we walk into the packhouse, I see everyone turn their heads in our direction. Some growl at us, and others just stare. I know they are growling since I probably smell like a rouge since I left that shit pack without permission. Aunt Mads just ignores them, and we make our way up the stairs to the Alpha's office. Aunt Madison knocks on the door and gives me a brief smile before we hear a 'come in' on the other side.
