Hayes
I collapse on my bed.
I wake up and it's Sunday morning.
Still pouring.
I wake up to thumping sounds on my window.
I pull back my curtains and see Layla throwing pebbles at my window.
"Finally he's awake!" She says as I open my window.
"Why are you throwing rocks-" I began.
"Actually pebbles.." she interrupts.
I began, "Pebbles at my window." I laugh a little.
"I wanted to wake you up." She says.
"I'm home alone, come over." She says shutting her window flashing me a smile through the glass.
I smile and shut mine.
Pulling my curtains back together.
I wear grey joggers and a plain black sweater. Complimented with black vans.
"Mom, I'm going next door!" I holler.
"Alright baby." She says from the kitchen.
I make my way to Layla's and she greets me at the door.
"Hey sleepy head." She says messing with my hair.
I chuckle and fix my hair.
"What should we do??" She says collapsing on the couch.
"Let's go get foooood." She says getting up, putting some slippers on.
"I'll drive." I state.
I run inside and grab my keys and wallet.
We get into my black Range Rover and drive off.
"How about pizza?" I ask.
"Yes and lemonade." She says.
We get all of our stuff and head to a park.
I park my car on top of a hill and we sit in the back looking at the stars.
"I'm glad we started to be friends." She breaks the silence.
"Me too." I say sipping on my lemonade.
"Like we have such a good time." She says eating her pizza.
I nod.
"Why are you dressed all different?" She asked out if the blue.
"You don't like it?" I ask getting worried.
"I do, but it's not the Hayes Grier I know." She says getting up from the back.
"Who is the Hayes Grier you know?" I ask following her.
"The button up nerd wearing quiet guy." She says giggling.
I play along and laugh too.
"Is this like a new style?" She asks.
"Um I don't know." I say looking at the sky.
"I'm doing it for this girl.." I start, immediately regretting it.
"Hayes.." she starts.
"You don't have to change for a girl." She ends.
"I do if she thinks I'm the biggest nerd in school." I reply.
"She does not." She fires back.
"You don't even know her." I look back at her.
"Okay but no one is that shallow Hayes." She says.
"I don't know." I say standing there.
HOME
It's 7 and I dropped off Layla 4 hours ago.
I want to tell her how I feel but I don't know.
Is she that shallow?
Before I can think anymore, I hear a knock on my door.
"Hey Hayes." My mom says coming in.
"I have an errand to run but here, I ordered the contacts and paid more to get them faster." She says handing me a small box.
"Thank you mom." I say hugging her.
"Mom, can I have some money? I want to go shopping for some clothes." I ask hoping she won't ask why.
"Um, sure." She says pulling a hundred out of her wallet.
I kiss her cheek and she leaves.
I am going to change completely.
I have stuff here but I need some newer stuff.
I drive to the mall and get all the stuff I need.
Pants, joggers, shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeves, and a pair of shoes.
I had to put a bit of my own money in but everything worked out fine.
Monday will be a new day for Hayes Grier.
I'm so sorry I didn't update ughhh!! Updating Thursday!
Stay safe ♥️
