chapter twelve
nobody needs to know

okay
/əʊˈkeɪ/
(adj.) satisfactory but not especially good.

IF OPENING THE DOOR and seeing one of your best friends sobbing on the floor isn't alarming, then I don't know what is.

'They're over,' Leigh mouthed over Jesy's shoulder, caressing her back. I immediately rushed to her side, hugging her tightly.

"I'm so sorry, Jess."

She shook her head, wiping the tears from beneath her eyes. "He used me."

I looked her in the eye, tilting her chin. "He's not worth it."

"That's not it," she looked up at me warily, "I think he left me for another girl."

"He's not worth it." I repeated my previous statement, hugging the older girl.

Jesy just nodded, heading upstairs.

"I'll stay with her, go home Perrie."

I knew I wouldn't win the argument so I let leigh anne stay and went back to the apartment...

...only to find a bashful Jed leaning against the doorframe.

"What are you doing?"

Jed handed me a bouquet of roses."For you."

"Thanks, they smell amazing." I deadpanned.

He only blushed a deeper red, and it was kinda cute.

"I'm sorry, rough day. What are these for?" I sent a small smile his way.

"I want to take you on a date."

"Jed..."

He scratched the back of his neck, "I broke up with Jade because I realised something important. I'm in love with another girl. You."

I opened my mouth to speak, but he cut me off.

"Just one date. And if it doesn't work out, we never speak of it again. Only one. Only us. Nobody needs to know," he caressed the back of my hand as our eyes met. I sighed.

"Okay."
