(n.) a strong feeling of affectionI WOKE UP IN PERRIE'S ARMS and smiled as I recollected last night's memories.
I carefully untangled myself from her and rolled out of bed: my lame attempt to let her have an extra five minutes of sleep.
I was in the kitchen when I heard her trudging downstairs, "Good morning, Pez."
Her eyes widened slightly upon hearing my voice, "Morning." She groaned in discomfort as she sat down on the kitchen stool. I placed a mug of coffee infused hot chocolate in front of her and let her drowsily pull me onto her lap.
"I missed you," she said into my hair.
I frowned, "I was right next to you?"
"Yeah, I know, but I missed this. I missed seeing you happy." Perrie yawned, rubbing her eyes. "Love you, Jade," she whispered, burying her face into my neck.
"Love you too," I said.
Perrie shook her head, "I love you." Her eyes were wide and bright.
"I know Perrie, you tell me almost every-"
She kissed me.
Perrie pouted as I pulled away. I rolled my eyes and pecked her lips again, putting a smile back on her face.
"What do you want for breakfast, Pez?"
I watched as she scanned the kitchen, eventually deciding on cereal. I used the kitchen counter to reach the box and handed her the cereal, laughing as she immediately dove in.
"Can we go to the park?" Perrie asked, eyes wide and curious.
I shook my head, "Pez it's really cold, I don't want you getting sick."
"Please?" she begged, jutting her bottom lip out. I sighed, giving in. She grinned as I agreed to her suggestion, bolting upstairs to get changed.
"Jade? Is this good?" the blonde came running downstairs, stumbling on the last step.
"Perfect. Be careful, Pez." I caught her just before she collided with the wooden floorboards.
She nodded and ran out the door, dragging me along with her. The trees were bare, covered in a thin layer of frost.
After hours of talking, I felt perrie begin to shiver. "Pez, you're cold, let's go home." I coaxed, pulling her closer. She looked up at me with puppy eyes. "No, babe you're going to get sick."
She stood on her tiptoes to kiss me before pulling away and beginning our walk home.
"Jade, look!" she squeaked, pointing to a puppy on the other side of the road. "Can we get a pet?"
"No."
Perrie gasped, "please?" she widened her eyes and tightened her grip on my hand. "pretty please?"
I sighed, "how about we get you a fish?" I watched her eyes light up with the small amount of joy I'd given her.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Perrie grinned, bouncing into the hallway. She threw her back down and slipped off her shoes.
"I love you, Jade." She kissed me again. I felt her melt into the kiss before I reluctantly broke away.
"I love you too," I said, playing with the ends of her hair. We grabbed our shoes once again and set out for the pet store.
"Can we go look at the kittens?" Perrie pleaded, "Just look? Please?"
I nodded and led her over to the kitten enclosure.
A tiny black kitten was rolling around on the floor, playing with a ball of vibrant pink yarn. Perrie gasped again and practically begged the shop assistant to let her play with the kitten.
Suddenly, Perrie's laughter was interrupted by the sound of my ringtone.
"I'll be right back," I left Perrie with the kittens, standing outside the pet store.
The person on the other side of the phone was management. Great.
"Jed kissed your cheek, right?" Sam asked.
"Yes."
"He will kiss you properly in public and has been instructed to do so. Just a heads up, bye." Sam hung up.
Perrie came running towards me. "Jade! Jade!" she yelled like an excited toddler, "I got a fish!"
I laughed at her enthusiasm, "Show me your fish babe."
Perrie held up the kitten, accompanied with her guilty smile, "don't be mad but meet Fish!" she said nervously, awaiting a response.
"Perrie..."
"I know that's not what you meant but she was just so cute and I couldn't say no! Please don't be angry with me," she begged, looking up at me with wide eyes.
"Babe."
"Please, can we keep her Jade? Please?" Perrie whined, pressing her lips against mine. "Please?"
I sighed heavily, "Fine."
Perrie gasped, her eyes lighting up. "Thank you!" She kissed me twice before handing me Fish so that she could get some cat supplies.
She ran back into the store, bounding over to the toy area. I watched her carefully select her favourites before moving over to another shelf.
"Perrie, you can't just get cat toys- Fish needs food too."
Upon hearing this, Perrie ran towards the back of the store where the cat food was kept. She collected everything we needed and ran to the till to pay.
"Babe, here," I handed her my credit card.
Perrie grinned and pecked my lips, "Thanks, Bambi."
