Little more than half-way through summer! So I thought I'd do a little summer special, you know the kids go to the beach cliche.  Hope you guys are savoring every moment of freedom ; )

"BEACH TIME! HURRY UP KEEFE!" Dex yelled. His already fair face from living in the mountains and spending most of his time inside geeking out was even paler than usual thanks to the thick layer of creamy white sunscreen that covered his cheeks and nose. Sophie and her friends had been waiting in the Everglen yard in their bathing suits and towels for so long that Sophie's beach bag had started to leave a pinkish mark on her arm.

An awkward silence hung in the air. There was a static humming radiating off the blinding electric fence so quiet and discreet Sophie had never noticed it before. The only other sound was the Song twins having a quiet conversation under the shade of a brownish pink tree.

"It feels good to be out of Fox-" Sophie started, hoping to fill the awkwardness, when suddenly a red and yellow striped towel was thrown in her face.

"Do not speak the forbidden word Sophie!" Keefe scolded, closing the door of Everglen and running up to them. She threw him a halfhearted glare, pulling the towel out of her face, but she knew she was smiling.

"Are you going to go in the water, Mr. I-held-everyone-up-making-my-hair? And I thought Biana took a long time getting ready." She teased, though honestly annoyed to have been kept waiting in the heat. Seriously how long could a guy take to get ready for the beach?

"Sure I'll go in the water Ms. I-can't-wait-more-than-five-minutes-without-causing-some-trouble.  But I know you know my look was worth the wait." He smirked and ran a hand through his hair, knowing full well it made it look even better. Sophie turned as red as the towel stripes, but she managed to roll her eyes, trying to hide her smile.

"Can't we just go, already?" Tam groaned  rolling his eyes, "I think I might barf if I have to listen to these two flirting any longer."

"My thoughts exactly, Tam." Fitz agreed, "Everyone, ready?" He pulled his crystal out of his pocket and into the sunlight, not waiting for their response, as they disappeared into the colorful stream light.

Sophie gasped at the scene coming into view. The beach in front of her put summer postcards to shame. The sand was light peach and powdery and felt warm and soft under feet. White geodes as big as caves laid littered across the island shining in the sun. The summer breeze that wafted through the palm trees heavy with ripe coconuts smelled like the sea and if sunshine could smell sweet. The teal ocean spread out toward the cloudless horizon, sparkling in under  the sunlight. It reminded her of Fitz's eyes, deep and teal. The center of the island was a green lush forest of palms and topical trees climbing up a small mountain with geode caverns carved into its side. Overall the small patch of land had maximum a mile radius. The island was a summer paradise.

"Fitz, this place is amazing how did you find it! How is no one else here?" Sophie asked keeping her eyes on the view. Usually on such a nice day there would be at least a few other elves at a beach so breathtakingly beautiful especially since Foxfire was out. Siren rock was packed during the day even in winter.

"Well, my family used come here in the summer before, when..." he coughed, searching for the words, "when, we had the time to go on vacation."  Biana bit her pink glossy lip nervously.

Dex grinned, oblivious to the Vackers, "Last one in the water is a stinky gullon!" He screamed and ran off toward the ocean with a head start, but the others quickly passed him.
