Today I was having a lunch date with Shannon during my hour long break from work, and a dinner date later tonight with Greg. It's officially been two days since he gave me his number, so I'm pretty excited to be going out with him. I haven't talked to Shannon since then either, up until earlier this morning. She texted me and wanted to meet up. I'm guessing to talk about the bet. Honestly, I don't know if she had gotten Greg's number yet, but Shannon is pretty determined.
"Mr. Clark, I'm going on my break. Is there anything you need done before I head out?" I asked my boss. He's an older man, 43 to be exact. We mess around from time to time, and I must say, he lays it down nicely.
"Maybe later," he replied without looking up from the work he was reading. But I could tell he had a smile on his face, and I know exactly what that means.
I left the office a little hot and bothered, so I decided to walk to the cafe. After all, it was only around the corner. Since it was lunch time, downtown was very busy! Usually it'll take me two minutes to get to the cafe, but it'll take me at least five to get there today. I didn't mind though, I could use the extra steps.
I had finally made it to the cafe, but didn't see Shannon's car anywhere. I checked my phone, and noticed a text from her that read:
Will be there in a minute, turning the corner!
I made a quick stop to the restroom, and came out just in time to see Shannon pulling up. I decided to take a seat at the table in the corner at the back.
"Hey girl," I said as soon as she spotted me and began walking towards the table. We gave each other a quick hug and kiss on the cheek.
"Girlllll, I hate traffic during lunchtime," she replied, as she sat down.
"Same here."
The wattress came and took our order. I got iced coffee, Shannon ordered lemon tea, and we both decided to get the two piece cinnamon bun plate.
"So how are you? I haven't spoken to you in a while."
"I've been great, you?" I asked her. This seems so fake, and I'm not loving it.
"Couldn't be better. I went on a date with Greg last night," Shannon said. Dammnnnn that quick? I got to give it to her, she out beat me.
"Really? How was it?"
"It was fun. We didn't do anything too fancy. I was in the mood for breakfast, so we went out to Denny's. He's very charming," she replied. The waittress came seconds later with our things and quickly left. Shannon took a bite of her snack.
"Sounds like fun. Our date is tonight, so I'm excited as well. Not gonna lie, I thought I was wayyyy ahead of you. I keep forgetting that you about yours though."
She giggled, but then became real serious.
"Mel, I don't want this man to come between our bond Alright? He's not worth it," she told me. I reached for her hands and held them over the table.
"Girl, you don't have to tell me. If we start arguing-fuck that. If we even start looking at each other funny, the bet is off. I don't want to lose you girl. You my bestfriend, nah... you my sister. Ain't no nigga coming between us," I told her, and I was dead ass. I may love dick, but my sisters come before anybody.
"You took the words right out of my mouth. But we should set some rules though. I don't know how you played it in your last bet, but this one needs rules," Shannon stated.
I sat back in my chair and sipped on my coffee. "Fine, what kind of rules?"
