I continued to stare out the window, and  watched as brie walked quickly through the yard. She turned back when she reached the gate, and looked right at me. I turned away, and sat in a chair next to the window. I banged my head against the wall repeatedly. I continued beating my head until the door swung open, and Athena walked in.

"Trevor, stop that. You're gonna make yourself stupid."

I held my head in my hands. "You made me look stupid."

"Shut up." She sighed. "I fucking missed the desert. Can you believe that?"

"You missed the snow. When we moved to Liberty City from Yankton." She smiled, and I remembered going to get her after the heist. Brad had told her and her brother, BJ, to stay put in the motel. We would ditch whatever car we picked up, and then after we lost the cops, we would get away in a van where the kids were. After we gave the signal we were on the way, they would get in the back and be ready for us. It worked at the time. But, it wasn't a life for the kid. Brad said it was better than the drugs their father was on.

All I could say to them in the van on the way to Brad's brother Beau's house was that I was sorry.

Her smile faded, and looked at me, "What are you thinking bout T?"

"The way it used to be."

"Which time?" She joked. It wasn't funny, it was more of a bitter joke. "Remember when you came back for me?"

I nodded.

She walked over to me and sat on her knees on the floor in front of me. "You came back and found out I could drive. And that I had no plans."

I nodded again.

"Talk to me, Trevor." She begged.

"I don't know what to say about it. It didn't fucking work. We were good to each other when we needed it, Athena, but is this really what you want? To be with me? I'm not done pissing people off. Which means I'm not done shooting people." She looked at the ceiling. "What do you want?"

"I just want to think about the good times, T. When it was us."

"When was it us? Last time we fucked, that wasn't us. That wasn't you."

"I was hurt. I had so much going in my head I-"

"I get it." I grabbed the side of her face, and turned it to face me. "I get it."

"You've been there."

"I had nightmares."

"Oh, Trevor."

"Every night."

"I'm sorry."

"I don't anymore. You wanna know why?"

"That girl?"

"Inna way, yeah." She looked away. "You gotta look at me, I gotta know you are fucking listening."

She looked back. "I'm listening T. I promise. I won't get angry with you. Tell me everything. I can take it."

"Her hair is the same color as yours. Well, the color it was."

"Yeah, haha. New hair, new me?"

"I like it." She smiled, touching her now shoulder length greenish blue hair. "She sleepwalks. One night I felt her climb over me into my bed. I saw her long hair and went with it. I pretended she was you. But personality wise, you're about as similar has day and night. The girl voluntarily cleaned and did laundry. And she cooks every day. I could go on, but I made her leave."

"Why?"

"That's not what this is about. I've got a therapist now."

"Trevor Philips seeing a therapist? What has the world come to?"

"Anyway, Athena, she didn't remind me of you. So it was easier to let it go. Not let you go, but to remember you were gone and there's no use pretending this girl that had little in common with you was you. You can't get mad I was gonna let you rest."

"I'm not dead, T."

I rubbed my forehead.

"Your therapist! Does he do couples therapy? We could go together and get this whole thing sorted out."

"What makes you think that is going to happen?"

"Because we love each other Trevor. And you made that girl you fell for leave. You obviously still love me."

"I made her leave because you fucked me up, Athena." I snapped. "I don't fucking want anything to do with the word love. Its not who I am. I ain't settling down now, probably ever. A girl that can't shoot? I don't need that. A girl that cleans and shit? What the fuck, I don't need that. I need a woman who needs danger. And money. And isn't thinking of revenge, or to shoot people just because you might prove yourself to me. I'm over this back and forth with you, Athena. I love ya like a old friend, Athena. It's over."

She looked shocked. Her eyes went to the floor, and tears started to flood her eyes. I shook my head.

"Do you need a ride somewhere? Is there somewhere you can stay?"

"Everyone fucked me over, Trevor."

"Your brother?"

"He moved after I died."

"Where did Michael's friends have you held up?"

"Stop, Trevor. Just because we aren't together doesn't mean we can't still be family, Trevor."

"I'm glad we could have this talk, but-" My phone rang. It was Brie. "I'm taking this." I answered the phone. "Hello?"

"T... Trevor?"

"Brie? What's going on?" She sounded hurt.

"Trevor. Tyler found me. Him and a few guys have me. C... Can you come get me, Trevor. Please help me?"

"What the fuck happened?" I answered angrily.

"I can't, there isn't any time. Please hurry. We are in Stab City."

"I'm fucking coming. Are you hurt?"

"No, I'm- I gotta go. Hurry, baby."

She hung up.

Athena stood. "She's hurt?"

"Her ex was a biker. I fucking hate bikers."

"He got her?"

"It went up his ass I was the one she chose. It's a longer story. Nows not the time." I stood, and started to leave. "You better be gone when we come back."

"I'm going with you."

"The fuck you are."

"Trevor! Let me come!" I laughed, and went to my truck. She followed me out, as the sun was setting. "Trevor. If I help you, you have to consider me and you staying friends. I can't lose you completely, Trevor."

"You are useless to me. What if they already killed her? You trying to get killed too?"

"I can do this, Trevor." I looked into her eyes.

"I always knew you could." We got into my truck, and I sighed as we pulled away."
