Hello, guys! So... we've finally caught up to the present, and Ayumi and Yuri have officially broken up. Thanks for sticking around this long, and please look forward to how they will resolve their issues. Will they find their way back to each other, or are they better off apart? I guess we have to wait and see 😉

Some of you may be wondering why I chose to introduce the breakup so suddenly in the prologue. I was inspired by a NatGeo documentary called 'Seconds from Disaster', and its usual format is to show a tragedy that occurred somewhere in the world, then reveal the hours, minutes, and seconds that led to it. After that it goes to the reconciliation, where they show the steps people have taken to ensure it never happens again. That kind of narrative piqued my interest, and I wanted to try writing in that format. I hope it wasn't too shocking. 😊

YES, this is more dramatic. And yes, for someone so intelligent, Ayumi was incredibly stupid. It just goes to show that her life may have made her more sensible, but it also made her secretly weak. The world she was born in was sort of inspired by both the original Dynasty TV series (Jeff x Fallon <3) and Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, and I wanted to showcase the dark side beneath the glamour. Her differences with Yuri in that aspect has always been (and will always be) one of the biggest hurdles in their relationship, and it's doubled by the fact that Yuri has always hated being under the spotlight.

They've both done an excellent job glossing over these issues in the first book, but I wanted to see how their opposing personalities would respond when reality finally comes to bite them in the ass. Yuri's arrogance and lack of emotional control (common traits for ENTJ/The Commander personality types), coupled with Ayumi's insecurity and excessive altriusm (common for ISFJ/The Protector types), would always spell trouble... if they don't know how to manage them. I wanted them to go through these issues so they can step out of that comfortable teenage bubble and grow as people... whether they end up together or not.

See you guys in the next chapters! It won't be as long as Part 1, I promise! 😊
