A Demon Maid

Chapter Five

I kept running until I reached my bedroom shutting the door, my back against the door I slide down to the floor. 

You're never getting yourself out of that one Scarlet

Standing up I body slam onto the bed and turned in for the night. Morning kissed the curtains with sunrise. Getting dressed I make my way to Astrid's room. I peek in to see Astrid hasn't woken up yet, walking to her bed I put a hand on her forehead to feel that she is burning up. I slowly get up leaving the room going to the kitchen.

Walking in the kitchen I see Baldroy has a pan on fire.

"Careful Baldroy!" I run up to him putting the pan into the sink running water in it. Steam filled the room waving the steam away I look at Baldroy.

"You need to be more careful Baldroy. You don't want to set the mansion on fire" he rubs the back of his neck embarrassingly.

"Sorry miss Rose I'll try to be careful"

Try? Really?

 "Anyway what're you doing here?" he asks

"Milday has come down with a fever I was gonna ask if you can make food for her. But after seeing this" I look at the pan that once was on fire.

"I think I'll make it myself"  he smiles then leaves the kitchen. I start to prep the chicken and the soup. I didn't know Sebastain was behind me until I felt his presence.

"Go away Sebastain", not looking behind me I tell him.

"What are you making?" I sense him getting closer.

"None of your business now leave I got work to do", he puts a hand on my shoulder and whispers in my ear.

"How about we make it together?" I turn back to face him .

"Fuck off", he pins my wrist down a smirk planted on his face.

"You know I'm starting to like having you around", my eyes change to the demon eyes.

"Get out!" he lets go of my wrist a smirk on his face as he leaves. My eyes go back to blue and red I look at the almost done soup. Putting the chicken and soup into a pot letting it boil I leave to the garden. I walk outside to the garden, to see Finnian arranging red roses. 

"Hey Finnian" he looks at me with a smile.

"Hey miss Rose what do you need?"

"Vegetables for soup" he smiles.

 "Your welcome to take any vegetables you want", he leaves the garden red and black roses in hand while I fill my basket with vegetables. I head back to the kitchen and start washing the vegetables, placing them on a cutting board I start chopping. Mixing the cut vegetables with the soup I start stirring it all together. Pouring the soup in an elegant bowl I place it on a silver tray. I also add some strawberry cheese cake and water. Holding the tray I open her door to see her sitting up. 

"Ah you're finally awake my lady I brought you some food", she wearily looks at the tray. 

"I came down with a fever didn't I?" I nod my head slowly, she slouches back down onto her bed and sighs. 

"Finnian and I were planning on visiting town today and now I'm sick", I set the tray down on her nightstand and sit down beside her. 

"You'll be okay you just need to rest and focus on getting better", I hug her she looks at the food I brought in. 

"Did Baldroy make this?" I shake my head. 

"Sebastian?" 

"Hell no I made this" her gaze met with the food 

"I'm gonna die am I?" she giggles I gently push her she giggles more.

"Well I'll leave you to it" she nods and I leave the room. As I closed the door Finnian came up to me with the same roses in hand. 

"Miss Rose is lady Astrid up?" I nod my head 

"Yes and she's come down with a terrible fever", his expression saddened. 

"I'll cheer her up!" With that he entered Astrid's room, I sigh and continue walking then I see Coraline running around with Pluto outside. He's not in his demon hound form but he's wearing clothes. I enter my room and changed out of my uniform into a black dress with blue. I look in the mirror and felt disgusted.

I grabbed an umbrella and exit the mansion leaving for town. The town was filled with people all around, children playing on the sidelines I look around to see people giving me weird and disgusted looks.

 Where is the medicine shop?!

I start to panic wanting to find the shop before the stares get more intense.

"Hello Scarlet!" I look behind me to see Grell running my way. He trips falling on top of me making me drop my umbrella and fall on my back. While I groan in pain I realize that Grell was close to my face, my cheeks burn up as I push him off of me. 

"Watch where you're going Grell!" He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. 

"Sorry I just saw you and came running", my face turns red at the comment. The pain in my chest spreads more its takes all my strength to not bend over in pain.

Am I having a human heartbeat? 

I get up grabbing my umbrella and start walking- 

"Hey wait up!" Grell flows me I sigh and continue walking, silence filled between us again this is getting awkward. 

"So Grell do know where medicine is?" I ask him trying to break the silence. He nods his head grabs my hand and takes me to the shop where we got the medicine. Carrying the medicine I smile at Grell.

"Thank you now I should head back to the mansion" I was about to leave but-

"No don't go yet" I stop in my tracks and look behind me to see Grell, standing there with a sad expression. I smile walking back to him he smiles holding his hand out, my cheeks beet red I accepted his hand. We walk around for a bit then we found some food stands, and the samples looked good. Noticing my hunger Grell goes to the cake stand and comes back with two cake pieces. 

"I noticed you were hungry so here you go", smiling I take one of the pieces and pop into my mouth a sweet flavor explodes in my mouth. 

"It's really good thanks Grell", I smile his face a bit red as he eats his piece. A long day comes to an end we are back at the mansion. Grell walks me up to the door I face him. 

"I had fun Grell even though I was just getting medicine for Astrid", he smiles. 

"Well you gotta have a little fun after what happened with Bassy", my heart sank to my stomach I look down my gaze on my shoes.

"So I take it you saw huh?"

"I'm sorry that happened to you that's not how he usually is"

"How did you know what happened?" I look back up to him he sighs.

"I followed Bassy around the mansion without him knowing. When he went in the kitchen that's when I saw what happened" I'm speechless. I looked down to my shoes again I felt his arms wrap around me.

"Hey guys!" letting go of me Grell and I see Coraline with a lollipop.

"What're you up to?" she asks.

"Grell was just dropping me off I got meds for Astrid he was helping me", she looks at me and Grell.

"Grell do you have feelings for Scarlet?" His cheeks turn from pale to pink 

"N-no I'm not!" She looks at him doubtful and replies.

"Okay because you do know, reapers aren't supposed to fall in love with us demons right?"

He nods his face turning sad as he waves his hand goodbye and leaves with Coraline. I enter the mansion my back against the door my hand on my chest.

Why do I feel like I'm gonna die again?
