Chapter 2: The Invitation

Magnus awoke to the tweeting of birds and the slight glow of the shining sun.

“Hello birdies, how are you on this beautiful morning ” he smiled as he prepared to start his day.

He began to hum to a silent tune while brushing his hair which had golden dyed tips.

After he was done, he put on his servant clothes. Brown pants,a brown shirt with blue sleeves, a white apron, Brown shoes, and a blue bandana to keep his hair back.

He began his day by feeding the chickens, the dog, and horse.

He greeted his mice friends.
Raphael was grumpy as usual, Ragnor was sleepy, Tessa was just kind. They were trying to help magnus and hated the way his stepbrothers and stepmother treated him.

While magnus began washing the laundry. Church his stepmother's cat came down and started chasing the mice who ran away with fear.

Magnus quickly shooed church who left with reluctance.

MAGNUSELLA!!! His stepbrothers screamed.

His stepbrothers created the name when they saw that magnus liked glitter, so they gave him a girly name cuz in their opinion only girls could like glitter.

As much as magnus hated the nickname he quickly ran up the steps of the laundry room to greet his brothers good morning.

The mice gave magnus a thank you before leaving for saving them from church.

“There you are, we need your help get into our clothing for the morning.” Sebastian said with an obnoxious smirk.

“Yes Sebastian, I'll get started” magnus stated while getting the boys clothes and helping them get ready.
             
When he was finished his stepmother called for him.

“Yes, mother”

Lillith layed in her bed, stroking church gently, her purple hair braided, while her black coal eyes stared at magnus.

Magnus walked in carrying a tray of morning tea and scones. He set them aside as she began to speak magnus.

“I need you play the piano so Johnathan and Sebastian can practice their singing. When your down with your chores meet us in the music room.” Magnus began walking out of the room when Lillith stopped him again. “Oh and Magnusella due make sure you prepare the tea the way I like it, not cold and stale, but warm and tasty . You are dismissed.” as she slowly rubbed the fur of church  and smiled evilly.

Prince Alexander Lightwood of Idris. He had the most bright blue eyes and darkest nest if ink back hair, his skin was pale and he was really tall, but handsome either way.

At the moment he was in the throne room with his Father fencing.

“Alec I just think you should atleast find a suitor or wife. You are going to be king in a few months and need a husband or perhaps a wife to rule with.” king Robert told his son as they talked while fencing eachother.

“Father you know I only like men, besides I can rule alone.”
Alec stated.

“No, when I became king I found someone to rule with because being king is a big responsibility and you need someone to calm you down.” Robert said as Alec won their match.

“Your mother was the best decision I ever made. Now thats shes gone all i have is you, izzy, max, and jace. I want you to find love like Izzy and Jace did with those two villagers Simon and Clary. Don't you see how happy they are.” robert said as he put his hand on his sons shoulder. When you came to me and told me you liked men, I was proud and if your mother was alive she would be too. Love is love and I want that for you.”

“Find I will let you host this ball but I want every man to come not just Royal but locals too. Is that a deal.”

“Yes son we do .I'll have woolsley send the invitations first thing in the morning” Robert said with a smile.

Okay how about we continue our little match then. Alec said with a smirk and glint of confidence in his stormy blue eyes. 

“On guard ” his father cried as he swung his sword towards his son.

After magnus finished his chores he accompanied his brothers and mother in the music room and began to play the piano.

“Do re me fa la de do”Johnathan sang and sounded like a frog croaking for help.

Lillith had a pained expressuon on her face.

“Boys try again”she said

“We can't magnus is playing all the wrong notes again MOTHER!!!” both boys cried childishly.

A ring on the doorbell was heard and Lillith told magnus to go and answer the door while she rubbed her temples and his brothers began to fight with one another.

“Invitation for the bane residence” Woolsley stated “The king of Idris asks that all fair Royal and local men attend the ball that is to be hosted by the king and prince themselves to find a husband for the Prince.”

Magnus took the invitation from woolsley and thanked as he closed the large mahogany doors and made his way back to his mother and bickering siblings.

“What do you have there” Lillith asked as magnus approached them.

“It's an invitation from the king stepmother”he replied as he handed it to her.

THE KING!!! Sebastian and Johnathan shrieked as they stopped pulling eachother hair and scurried to their mothers side as she read the invitation.

“It seems like the Prince is looking for a husband. Boys you must get ready if one of you want to be the princes groom!”lillith yelled as both boys sighed the Prince dreamily.

“Ooo I hope he chooses me I'd be a prince” Sebastian said.
“No I want to be a prince MOTHER!!!” Johnathan screamed.

“Boys! BOYS! settle down”they look at thier mother “we'll see who the Prince chooses”

There was a moment of silence until magnus spoke up.

“Um stepmother may I attend the ball too”

“YOU!! Why would a prince want you!!!” his brothers said with a laugh.

“Well the invitation said every boy local or Royal may come.”magnus divulged.

Lillith smiled decidedly and looks at magnus. “Why of course you can come Magnusella.”

“WHAT!!! MOTHER WHY HIM HE COULD EMBARRASS US!!! HE doesn't even have something to wear but those dirty rags” Sebastian and Johnathan screamed.

“Now now boys, I'll let him go on one condition. He finishes all the chores in he has and his new one and if he finds and outfits to wear. Do we have an agreement magnus” she asked with a devilish smirk.

“Yes step mother” he said.

“Good now boys let's go get you fitted for your suits. Magnus we will be back later you have today and by the end of tommorow to finish if not then no ball for you”

Magnus began his chores as his mother and brothers walked outside to go and meet with the tailors.

What was magnus to do. He has nothing to wear and so much chores to finish. He would need a miracle.
