The notes started shortly after Tokoyami realized his feelings for a certain girl in his class at U.A. There was just something about _____ that pulled him in. He couldn't quite explain it. They had started to become closer friends shortly after they all started living at the dorm rooms. She didn't make him feel self conscious about how he decorated his room, which he appreciated. She was also bubbly and cheerful. The complete opposite of him.
Maybe they were right when they said that opposites attract.
He found the first note on his door one morning after class. It was taped up there and he almost missed it. It was a folded piece of white paper with his name written across it. He couldn't tell the handwriting. He frowned as he opened up the note and read it.
I really like how your room reflects your personality~
Tokoyami frowned slightly at the note. He wished that he would be able to place the handwriting on the paper, but the more he stared at it, the more the words started to blend together. But he couldn't help the happy feeling he felt when someone actually complimented his room. He folded the note back up and stuffed it into his pocket before heading downstairs to eat with everyone before heading to school.
During breakfast he noticed that _____ had already left. When he asked Midoriya and Uraraka they had said that she had to take care of something in the classroom. He thought nothing of it and once breakfast was done, he and the others left for the classroom.
By the time he got there _____ was already in her seat, as were most everyone else like Bakugo and Todoroki, and he made his way to his own seat. Taped onto his desk, he saw another note, his first name written on it this time. He sat down and opened the note, reading the contents again.
I like how you focus so intently on your studies. Just watching you wants me to be a better student, too.
Tokoyami blinked a few times and read it over again. The handwriting was the same as the last note. He looked around the room to see if there was anyone watching him as he read, in hopes of discovering who wrote the note to him, but he didn't see any one. He frowned and folded the note up, putting it with the other one.
Morning classes that day were a blur. He kept feeling someones eyes on him intermittently but every time he looked up to see, he couldn't find anyone staring directly at him. It was starting to really bother him that he couldn't figure it out. He stole a glance at _____ and found himself secretly wishing it was her who was sending him the notes.
After lunch they had their hero training classes. Aizawa allowed them to grab their costumes before heading to the locker rooms to change. When Tokoyami opened up his, he found another note folded neatly atop his cloak. He frowned, wondering how his secret admirer was able to get it into his costume case. Before he got a chance to open up the note, Midoriya walked over to him.
"Hey, what's that?" he asked.
"A note," Tokoyami said. "From a girl I think. It's hard to tell by the handwriting."
Midoriya raised an eyebrow. "How did she get it into your costume case?"
"I have no idea..." he replied and opened up the note.
Your costume suits your quirk. And I think Dark Shadow is totally adorable. PS. Aizawa helped me get this one to you~
"I think it's definitely a girl," Midoriya said and walked off to meet up with Iida before they walked out of the changing room.
Tokoyami felt his face heat up as he read the note and folded it back up before placing it with the others. He really hoped he would be able to figure out who this person is.
After Hero Training, when everyone was dismissed from classes entirely, Tokoyami found one last note taped to his shoe locker. He pulled it off and without even thinking, opened it up.
If you want to know who I am, meet me behind the 1A dorms after everyone's gone to bed.
He felt his heart pound in his chest at being called out like this. He spent most of the day reading this persons note and secretly hoping that it was his crush sending them to him. But would it be too much for him to hope for? For it to be her secretly admiring him the way he did her?
Part of him wanted to go and find out who this girl was, sending him the notes, but part of him was afraid to find out. What if he got his hopes up and he was wrong?
"Whatcha got there?"
Tokoyami jumped, startled and turned to see _____ standing next to him, reading over his shoulder. He quickly folded up the note. "Just something I found on my locker," he said.
She giggled. "You're a terrible liar, Tokoyami," she sang. "You've been called out by a secret admirer. You should go and find out who it is."
He felt an odd pang in his chest at her cheerfulness at the situation. Like disappointment mixed with sadness. He hoped that she would be at least a little jealous. He shrugged it off. "Yeah I guess you're right."
"Cool," she said and smiled at him. "I'll see you later, then."
He blinked a few times and watched as she bounced away. He started to get his hopes up again, but realized that they live in the same dorm building so of course he'd see her later, whether they ate dinner at the same time or if they were lounging in the common room together. He put the folded note in his pocket with the other three and trudged back to the 1A dorm building.
That night, close to midnight, when the building was quiet and everyone was in their beds, Tokoyami grabbed a light windbreaker and quietly left his room. He shrugged it on as he quietly made his way to the meeting place his secret admirer had told him about.
When he arrived, he noticed someone standing there with their back to him. He walked up silently behind them, noticing their figure was female. He tapped her shoulder. She jumped and squeaked before turning around. Tokoyami's heart stopped when he realized just who it was.
_____ stood there, red in the face, twiddling her thumbs awkwardly. "Hey," she said and laughed nervously. "I started to think you weren't going to come."
"You're the ones who sent me the notes?" he asked and tilted his head to the side.
She nodded and opened her mouth to say something but immediately closed it again. She tried several more times and Tokoyami couldn't help but find her floundering adorable. Finally she managed to find the words.
"Yeah, it was me," she said. "And I know you're probably not interested in me like that, since you're so calm and cool and content being just by yourself, but if you would accept my feelings then–"
She didn't get to finish her sentence before Tokoyami wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. She went rigid, not expecting it, but soon relaxed and hugged him back.
"Of course, I'll accept them," he said. "If you'll accept mine."
