" I was a typical Indian girl. I loved Bollywood movies. Cried over anything romantic let it be a movie, a novel, a TV show, sweet words and just everything. I was shy like hell but ya once I was familiar with a person I became super cool. I was a love stricken doll who wished for a prince charming. I loved hanging out with my friends. I was...."

"Okay stop. I lost you after that crying over stuff. You can't be serious about all this. I mean look at you, you are this girl who is contesting in university elections. Ya there are hell lot of guys who are ready to throw themselves at your feet and still you don't even give them a second look and then you ask me to believe that you were a love-stricken doll?"

Rick finished his sentence almost in one breath and looked at Anaida's face in utter disbelief. Anaida couldn't stop laughing at his expression. They have known each other for three years now and although he was a year junior to her in college, still he was the closest being she had there. They were from a similar background struck at the same alien place and so their friendship bells had ringed since the very beginning.

"You don't believe me, right?" Anaida asked after she had finally controlled her laughter.

"Of course not. I mean I thought that I know you so well, until today, and I guess I would have still been in the dark if I wouldn't have caught you with your diary." He said while pointing towards the diary that she had on her lap.

"I know. I'm sorry. It's just something from my past. I'm a changed person now. I'm not the carefree being I once was. I'm different now and you completely know the person I'm right now and that's what really matters."

"No Anaida. All of it matters to me. All of it." His voice had risen. Anaida very well knew that Rick had always liked her and he was also very possessive about her and so his reaction was kind of natural.

"Rick chill! It was all in the past. It was something I never wanted to recall. I was dull, dependent, emotional and a fool and look at me right now, I'm the opposite of that girl and I'm happy."

He remained silent for a while as if registering whatever Anaida had just told him. His silence was making her nervous. She didn't want to loose a friend over such a small issue.

"If it doesn't matter to you then what were you doing with your diary just before your big day?" He finally spoke and brought Anaida out of her thoughts.

"Ha Ha. . This was the last question on Earth that I would have thought that you would ask me." She waited for Rick to join her in her laughing spree but he just stood there, cross armed, looking irritated.

"Ahh. .okay! Look, tomorrow is the official start to my new life. I mean I'm gonna become a part of this political system and finally start working for the dreams I've dreamt and for the liberation..."

"Ada, come back to the point. This is not your political campaign."

"See! Everything in my life is now related to politics and so I was here to put the last remains of my past life into fire." She declared proudly.

Rick stood stunned for a few minutes. He was confused that wheather he should feel proud about how much brave his freind was or should he feel sorry for the lost girl in her bestie or should he feel sad about the fact that she had kept so much about herself from him.

All these melodramatic pauses that Rick was taking were making Anaida sick. She knew that she had hurt his feelings and trust by keeping so much about herself from him but she obviously had her obvious reasons.

"I wanna hear it all. Today. Right now!"

Anaida was totally taken back by the 'polite' request made by her friend.

"Whaaaat? I mean WHAAAT? Are you in shock Rick? Have you lost your fucking crazy mind?" Anaida stood up literally screaming. She couldn't believe what Rick had just asked her. The memories she had happily erased, he's asking her to recollect all of it.

"Listen Ada," he reached out for her hand to calm her down. "I know you are trying to forget most of it but I wanna be a part of it before you end it, before all of it is gone, before you make a move towards your new life. Please Ada, do it for me. Please!"

Anaida hated to see the pleady expressions Rick were making. She knew that he would keep on pleading her till she finally says a yes. And so she decided to tell him everything, once and for all.

She smiled and finally said, "Okay, but on one condition. You won't judge me, or what I did or what I was, and especially the guys I went out with, they all still have a special part in me."

"Whatever you say lovely lady. Wait up, I'll bring some snacks and drinks and then we can start."

Rick was acting like a small kid, full of enthusiasm as if Anaida was about to tell him some amazing bedtime story just before he slept, but he didn't knew that she was about to open up her heart right in front him and it's gonna be a hell difficult task for her.
