“So we’ll start with the introductions?” Roy said turning towards the class after writing the course’s name on the blackboard. He turned to Anaida and looked at her expectedly. It was after a while that she realized that he wanted her to start as she was sitting on the first bench. She let out a small sigh and started to stand up and go to the front of the class to face everyone.

“Oh no need to stand up! We are a small batch and so you can just sit there and maybe turn a bit to face the class.” Roy told Anaida, smilingly. “See people, I’m not here to be a teacher to all of you, I’m here to share the knowledge I have, with you guys.  I’m just a few years older to you all and so you people can relax and be yourselves with me.” He finished and looked over at Anaida with a smile, signaling her to continue. She turned and started, trying her best to ignore the guy, sitting just behind her.

“Hi everyone! I’m Anaida and here to study political science. I love reading novels and I took up this course to still be in touch with some kind of literature in midst of all my studies.”

“Any favoirates?” Roy asked.

“Many actually. I love romantic and drama genes. Judith Mc Naught, Nicholas Sparks, Khalid Housseni, Nora Roberts…”

“Danielle Steel?”

“Yeah totally. I just love some of her work. Although I like these romantic novels but still trust me I’ve never read Mills ‘n’ Boons or something.” She completed proudly. She heard a snort from the rude guy behind her, Roy’s ‘brother’, but both, Roy and Anaida, ignored it.

“Wow! Good for you. I guess you’ll love the novel we’ll be doing then.” Roy told the cheerful girl in front of him. He then looked at his brother, who as usual was looking irritated. “You go next.” The guy let out a heavy sigh and started.

“It’s Aarav. I’m in the arts department. I like reading challenging books like Finnegans Wake by James Joyce, The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner, The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez , and many more.” He finished off proudly. “And yeah, I hate all those romantic ‘book for fools’ novels.” He said with a smirk, eyeing Roy and Anaida.

“The novel we’ll be doing is no lesser a challenge. It’s a classic and even if you won’t like it, you’ll just have to continue, after all you opted for it and you can’t drop out now. Right?” Roy asked his brother, with an even bigger smirk on his face. Aarav didn’t say anything, he just leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms at his chest.

The introductory session continued and everyone told about the various fields of studies they have joined in to study. It was Anaida’s first class where she felt so comfortable and at ease. She loved the way Roy had made everyone so relaxed and comfortable. The only element that made her feel uncomfortable was the rude being behind her. She just couldn’t understand how two brothers can be so different from each other.

“Okay then.” Roy’s words brought Anaida out of her thoughts. All students have completed introducing themselves. “The novel we’ll be doing this semester is Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys. The book is a classic and a combination reading of love, expectations, and social systems and so on. And trust me, it would be a challenging read.” He said pointedly at Aarav.

The rest of the class time went in novel’s introduction. To anaida the book seemed interesting and she was quite exited and waited for her next class. Around five thirty the class ended and Anaida came out of her classroom. As she went towards the building’s exit, whe was greeted by a smiling Ankush, waiting by the main door. Waiting? For her? Nah! She held a confident smile and approached him.

“Still here? Had a class or waiting for someone?” She asked.

“Waiting. For you.” He answered with a cheeky grin.

“Me? Why? Another ragging session?”

“Haha, you ask too many questions.” He told her, laughing cheerily. Anaida felt proud of the way she could make him laugh. Wait, what? You a joker or something? “I just wanted to spend a few minutes with you, before you leave.” He continued, bringing Anaida out of her thoughts.

She was a bit taken aback. He wanted to spend time with me? Wow? Ouch? She suddenly felt nervous and started to look around and it was then that she realized that just a few meters away fom her, Aarav and Roy were having a vernal fighting session in a corner. She didn’t realize she was staring until Aarav’s eyes shot up in her direction, as if accusing her in its own way. She quickly dropped down her gaze and looked over at Ankush, who was still waiting for her answer.

“You know what, I’m actually a bit tired today. I’ve  been in classes since morning and I just want to go home and rel….”

“Just a few minutes. Please!” He said, making puppy cute expressions.

“Okay fine. Till six then?” She asked looking at her watch.

“Perfecto Madame!” He said smiling broadly.
