Samson's POV:
The summer holidays are over and Steve will be resuming
at his new school soon…. We have been here for months and
he hasn't left the house. I should blame myself; I shouldn't
have bought a house that has a pool in it as Steve requested...now he stays in the pool all day.. For an entire
month he didn't leave the house. Still staring at the newspaper
on my hands blankly… Steve walked past me good morning
Dad.
Steve's POV:
Good morning dad I said ignorantly without stopping to get
his response... but he cut me off guard when he raised his voice
at me; young man, will you come back here! He said. But Dad,
no buts Steve, you aren't going to the pool today! He said
stiffly. I gave him a death glare before saying...why??
You have wasted enough time in the pool, besides your holidays are over and you are starting your new school
tomorrow. Go get prepared for your school resumption, he said sternly. Dad no! You know the only reason I can still smile now is the pool and you are stopping me from doing that too?
It's not your business if I stay in the pool all day…
Shut up! He cuts me off without letting me finish; you are still a teenager and I am responsible for you, he said (a little
less harsh this time).
Dad you say that like you really care I sighed as I walked to
my room.
After staring at my room obviously for about an hour; .the
chandelier in my room, the biggest flat screen TV, .the blue
porch opposite my king sized bed, I admit I was a bit
superfluous as regards my room, but that’s what dad gets for
moving us into a new house..
I was about to take a nice nap when a lady, one of the
maids I guess. She's a bit younger than Dad and quite
beautiful, entered my room...
"Oh my God'' did you just enter my room without
knocking? I said, raising my eyebrow. And what in God's name are you doing here? Erm erm erm, she stammered; the door was ajar, so I came in thinking you wouldn't mind
son, she trailed off.
You are not my mom! Because certainly my mom will never
wear a maid's dress; I said with a smirk on my face, keeping in
my heart the sadness I felt because mom is no more..... She took no offense to it, instead she continued; what is the most constant thing In life my child? She asked; looking at me
expectantly to answer her dumb question.
With a shrugg feeling unexpectedly awkward, I answered; changes.
Yes my dear, change is the only constant thing in life, she
replied.
..........................
After she gave me a whole lot of lectures about fitting into my new environment, she left.
Later, I ate dinner alone because Dad was up and about his business as usual.. I slept that night with
school on my mind.
