"Don't judge my story by the chapter you walked in on."
Recap:
Rolling my eyes, my body turns to face a broad chest covered by a black jacket only inches away from me. I crane my neck only to meet the malicious looking eyes of the third guy with a tamed brown beard.
Well, at least I've found guy number three...
Corida
Or more suitable, guy number three found me.
I laugh awkwardly when my forest green eyes make contact with the bearded guy's own dark brown, almost seemingly black, pair.
"What? I was," I begin but my voice unintentionally comes out somewhat high pitched so I clear my throat discreetly and continue, "-I was just bypassing and happened to glance in that direction when you encountered me."
The third guy- screw it, I'll call him Beardy- Beardy squinted his wide eyes at my excuse as if seeing right through my white lie. I was right.
"Yeah, I'm not buying that tale, love. I saw you standing here; observing our every move for at least a solid 6 minutes or so. So don't even think for a minute that I'll buy that one." Beardy states and I curse myself in my mind for being a horrible liar in the moment I really needed to make him fall for my alibi.
I shake my head of my doubts and hold an index finger up to his face. "Okay, first of all, I am nobody's love, let alone yours. Secondly," I hold up another finger for emphasis. "I am failing to find a valid reason for this conversation to last between us right now."
I hold up a third finger and shake my hand slightly to prove my final point. "Lastly, you really shouldn't have let me stall for this long. I mean honestly, how stupid could someone be to let someone like me procrastinate just to distract you and play with your short circuiting mind?"
He stands there for a moment whilst I allow him to process the end of my little speech. When I think he's had enough time being baffled, I smirk menacingly at him and strike first for his knees.
Kicking Beardy's shins swiftly, it causes him to fall instantly to the floor on both of his now bruised knees. He grunts on impact and I crouch down to his level, lifting his head up by his chin to face me.
"Look at that; I never thought you'd be on your knees surrendering to me so soon."
Beardy looks me dead in the eye and lets out an audible exhale, presumably a breathy laugh but it sounds pained at the same time.
"Oh love, I think you've forgotten exactly how many men you saw before I caught you snooping on us... And also their capability to hear our little chat." Beardy utters confidently.
It takes me only a split second to capture his words properly but it's too late to turn around when I get the feeling of large, rough hands grasping at my sides and lifting me away from the bearded man harshly.
I twist my neck in an attempt to meet the face of the man who has hold of me but I feel another pair of grubby hands clutch my chin and force my head to turn forward. I'm met face to face with Beardy from the dodgy trio. This, however, fails to fill me with trepidation because at least I know that Leighton can't be the one holding me from my sides; said guy now residing only metres behind Beardy with what I can only call the most smug look on his face that I have ever seen in all my 19 years of life.
"Hello again, Stone." Leighton's voice called over the malicious chuckles of Beardy and Baldy- what fitting nicknames for the nameless mystery men, I think to myself whilst momentarily ignoring Leighton's direct address to me.
