A pregnant Princess Elizabeth panted hard as she was told to begin to push. This was it. She needed one living child. Charles assured her that the gender of their child did not matter, but Lizzie still prayed for a son. The constant pressure from England to secure the alliance between the English and French relied on the prince with English and French blood. "The head is crowning, my lady. One more push," The midwife encouraged. With each push Elizabeth prayed for a son, but with that final push her prays were not answered. Like her mother, and Anne's mother...Lizzie's first heir was a female child.
"She is beautiful, your highness. The face of an angel," One maid complimented the sad princess. "Tell me, what matters the beauty or the sex Lady Margery?" Elizabeth taunted. Margery shrugged. "You are still very young, boys shall follow. You should be happy. Not every woman makes it out of child birth alive and with a healthy child. The Prince should praise you for giving him his first heir, female or not," Lady Margery explained. Elizabeth said nothing for the lady failed to understand, Prince Charles wasn't the person she needed to impress. Her home, her family and her future depended on the birth of a prince. Lady Margery was merely a servant, so she failed to understand the concept of a Queen-to-be.
Although, Elizabeth would never admit, there was one man's approval she seek out- her father. She was still her father's little jewel and whatever he wished of her, Elizabeth wanted to make him proud. With her brother so close to their parents, he got the most attention. Living beyond the seas, Elizabeth was lucky to get a letter from her father. Even when he did, they contained orders- nothing loving as they use to be. "I wish to be back in England, Lady Margery. It is high time I saw English soil again."

Anne could not help but to tear up when she read her daughters plea to return home. Elizabeth loved the French court, but England was her home. "Anne she has a duty to our country and the French to deliver an heir, which might I remind you she failed to do," Henry argued. Anne said nothing, even from a distance Henry was too demanding of their children. The prince was drilled to the max with every subject known to mankind. Anne was a scholar herself, but that was a natural desire to learn. Their son wanted to be riding and learning the art if sword-fighting, not cooped inside all day reading and writing.
Henry failed to realize he was hiding their son away from the outside world, something he swore not to do. "The child has been born a female, nothing you can do to change that. Let her come home, Henry. Who's know's maybe it'll spark that special moment between her and Charles and possibly result in that grandson you are dying for," Anne argued on her daughter's behalf. "Oh, Anne what am I going to do with you," Henry said giving in.
