Smoke

Warnings: smoking, drowning.

You heard the sizzle and the burn of the lit cigarette.
A cough escaped your lips as you breathed in the tar ridden stick.
It's been a while since you smoked, breathed in its deadly but addictive poison.
You haven't needed a release for a while, not since you've been with Jughead.
He was so sweet and kind, he helped you through all kinds of crap. He's probably the best boyfriend you've ever had.
'I can't believe I'm doing this to him' You thought in your head. You cursed yourself holding the cigarette between your fingers.
You heard crunching leaves and then someone muttering.
You dropped the cigarette and squashed it under your heel.
You turned around to find jughead staring at you confused.
"What was that all about?" He asked looking down to your feet.
"What was what?"
"Don't play stupid, you IQ is well over 130." He furrowed his eyebrows looking you in the eyes.
"I'm just tired." You mumble but you know straight away he's not seeing through your bullshit.
"And I can always tell when your lying." He sighed,
"I'm not lying." You persisted on with your lie.
"I can smell smoke."
Okay nows time to come up with an excuse
"Oh, I was walking home with Kevin and-"
Jughead cut you off with a kiss, you tried to pull away but he held you in his grip.
He pulled away and looked at you with disgust.
"I hate the taste of cigarette." He said wiping his mouth off.
"Jug, I'm s-"
"Don't bother, I'm clearly a terrible boyfriend.
Especially if you need to poison yourself."
He walked away leaving you alone, vulnerable.
You ran into the woods,
trying not to be found, but secretly hoping someone would find you.

Jughead knocker on Archie's door and he came rushing down.
"Hey, Jug. What's up?"
"Your the second person she would come to, so... here I am." Jug dropped his arms to his sides and Archie pulled him inside.
"Have you seen her?"
"Her?" Arch asked grabbing some leftover pizza in the fridge.
"You know who in talking about."
"Y/n?" Arch said as he stuffed pizza in his mouth
"Yeah." Jug growled
How could Archie not be taking this seriously.
"Have you tried calling her?"
"Of course a million times."
"What happened? I thought you guys were going great, I was actually a little jealous." He chuckled.
"We, were going fine. I don't know what happened."Jug took his beanie off and ran his hand through us hair.
"Whoa, okay. What happened." Archie said scared, now looking at the situation seriously.
"She's smoking... and lying."
"Shit." Archie mumbled 
He offered jug some some pizza but he turned it down.
"Smokings not really a big deal, if you think about it, you know. Maybe you should cut her a break." Arch shrugged and jug slammed his fist on the bench.
"Archie you know what she's like."
"She'll run off and hide somewhere, sometimes dangerous, hoping no one will find her but, secretly wishing someone will find her." Archie stared blankly at his pizza and jug covered his face.
"You have to go. Before she does something more stupid."
"I don't know where to find her, that's why I came here." Jug protested
"Try sweet water river."
"Crap, I didn't think of that." Jughead bursted out the door and ran down the streets into the forest and down to the river.
"Y/n, Y/n!" Jug yelled and continued to run through the woods.
You heard his cries and felt a wash of relief come over you. Also sadness.
You got up from your hiding place and decided to sit on a big rock that was basically imbedded in the river.
You saw jughead but, he didn't see you so you waited.
You head his steps become slower and then eventually to a stop.
You didn't need to look up to know he was staring at you.
"Hey.."
"Hey." You mumbled back.
"I tried to call you."
You shrugged in response
"It's not you." You mumbled again
"Don't you dare say, it's not you it's me."
You smiled and his face lit up
"Come down here." He reached his arm out and you stood up and you stepped on an unsteady piece of rock and fell into the river.
"Y/n!" Jug yelled but you were swept away by the current.
Jug took off his jacket and dived in trying to save you. Only to be caught in the rivers strong pull.
He finally found your hand and tried to go against the current and by doing so he was pulling you under, water splashing into your face and mouth, preventing you from breathing.
The rocky parts were coming up ahead, you would end up as human jam by the time you made it out.
Jug went under tumbling pulling you under once more slamming into the rocks.
He emerged an grabbed hold of the slippery surface. The water pressure forcing him on the rock.
He held onto your hand but the current kept pushing down on you. You could barely muster any strength to hold on.
"Y/n, don't let go!" Jug yelled and you clutched onto the rock.
You chocked on the water that was spraying into your lungs, then you felt jug move.
He wasn't going to move in all of this, you would be swept away again.
"Jug what are you doing!" You screamed with what voice you had left.
He just pulled you along. Your body dragged against the rocks. Scratching at your exposed flesh.
Then you felt the cold pebble bank under your hands and knees, Jughead collapsed beside you.
"I'm so sorry." You cried reaching for him as he pulled you close.
"I love you so much." He kissed your forehead holding you tight.
"I love you too."

"There they are!" You heard a voice call
"Archie?" Jughead whispered confused
Archie, Betty and Veronica all rushed down and skidding by your side.
"Are you guys okay?" Arch asked out of breath.
"We are now. Thanks for being late."
"There's are y/n, and Jughead." They all hugged you both and you looked at eachother uncomfortably
"Too much human contact for today." Jughead squirmed and you just tackled him kissing his face all over.
"Too bad, your a hero. Deal with the contact." You smirked
