Its been a year since I've seen the Winchesters. Life has been pretty cut and dry. Hunting things, traveling left and right, avoiding deep thinking. I figured tomorrow wouldn't be any different.
I had just finished a skin walker case, it was the mayor, but I walk into the shitty motel room trying not to track blood or skin walker goop anywhere. I grab a bottle of whiskey and head to the bathroom. I quickly shower to get all the dried blood off of my skin. While in the bathroom I stitch up some of the deeper gashes.
"Fuck" I muttered as I repeatedly stabbed myself to get the wounds to close. I walk out of the bathroom and find a shirt in my bag, the first shirt I pulled out was an old plaid shirt. "It still smells like him." I remember grabbing this over shirt off off the table in room 219. I put it on after my underwear and just walk around the room. Eventually I throw my hair in a messy bun and grab a beer out of the fridge when my phone rings.
"Go for Dani." I answer.
"Dani, its Sam."
"Oh, hey Sammy boy whats up?" the line goes quiet. "Sam?" I ask frantically.
"Are you still at the motel from your last hunt?" Sam seems distracted but also at a loss for words.
"Yeah, I'm here till tomorrow morning."
"I'll be there in five." Sam hangs up the phone.
"What the hell?" I look at my phone.
I throw my phone on the king bed in the room. I walk over to my bag on the little couch and pull on a pair of jeans. As I finish I hear a knock at the door. For a tall ass man Sam looked tiny standing outside of my door.
"Come in." I opened the door more and let him in. "Beer?" he shakes his head "Whiskey?" He nods. I sit the bottle on the table as he sits down. He takes a huge swig and rests his elbows on the table. His head in between his arms frantically running his fingers through his hair.
"I couldn't fix it." Sam mumbled out. I could tell he was crying. I saw middle school Sam in the back of English class hiding the horrors last nights hunts left in his mind.
"Couldn't fix what Sammy boy?" I leaned over trying to comfort him
"Dean Dani, I couldn't save Dean! I tried so hard but there was NOTHING I could do. They took him!" Sam was screaming, when he looked up at me I couldn't help but gasp. Sam had always done so well with hiding his hell, but after everything he had gone through these past two years I could tell he was really hurting.
"Sammy, we'll fix this. We can find a way."I start pacing the room in front of Sam.
"I'm sorry Dani." I looked at him confused as all hell. "I couldn't tell you over the phone, but I knew why you left all those months ago."
"I'm glad you told me in person Sam." and I meant it. I knew Sam needed this as much as I did. We both knew that this was going to happen at some point this year, yet it still hurt like hell.
"I couldn't be alone tonight."
"Go to bed, I'm gonna go for a walk." Sam started to protest but stopped when he saw the look on my face, "I wont be gone long." I grab my key to the room and my phone and left. I barely even got outside before the tears started flowing. I walked around the motel into the little nature park until I got to a cliff nearby. From there I was glad to see the river and the moon.
"GOD DAMN YOU DEAN WINCHESTER!!" I screamed. I'm sure someone in the town heard me but I honestly didn't care. "How could you leave Sam here? You and Bobby are all he had left and now you're just gone. Why didn't you try to find a loop hole there are always loopholes ALWAYS!" The tears were coming out of me so fast that I could hardly breath.
"HOW DARE YOU LEAVE HIM!!! HOW DARE YOU LEAVE... me" I could barely force out that last word. A world without Dean Winchester. "Who would want to live in a world without you. People don't even know what you did for them but god they are thankful for it..." I paused.
"Look I know I don't pray often, but I feel like this is cause enough to pray. Why would you let this happen? Please please please, bring him back. The world needs Dean Winchester. I don't care what you have to do but by God BRING HIM BACK! please." I sat on the edge of that cliff for a long time. When I finally walked back to the motel, the late night partners were rushing out of their rooms while others were just getting home. Sam was asleep in the bed.
The Last Winchester.
