**Flashback**

Heatherdell High school home of the Razorbacks. The school year was drawing to a close which meant, Prom season. Of course trouble students couldn't go to prom.  Yet I enjoyed detention, and prom seemed stereotypical. Today's detention wasn't any different except for who was in there.

"Sup Rhodes." Dean Winchester walks in and sits down behind me.

"Winchester" I nod not looking up from my notebook.

"You going to prom next weekend?" Dean sits forward in his chair, his warm breath on my neck.

"No and I told you, that was a one time mistake. It will never happen again."  I lean back in the chair looking straight at Mr. Richards who was the teacher watching detention.

"Well I understand that, the problem is... I already bought two tickets and the girl I was going to ask has swore she would never look at me again." Dean chuckled lightly.

"Bad kids don't go to prom." I whispered.

"RHODES, WINCHESTER SILENCE IN DETENTION." Mr. Richards yells at the three of us in the room.

"Yea Donovan, silence in detention!" I mimic Mr. Richards voice. The other kid in detention was Mark Donovan, the three of us were always in detention together.

"Shut the hell up Rhodes." He turned around and looked at Dean and I. Mr. Richards got up from his desk and walked out of the classroom shaking his head.

"What do ya say Rhodes?" Dean shows me the Prom tickets with a smug look on his face. Mr. Richards walks back into the room.

"Mr. Richards can i go to the bathroom?" I raise my hand.

"You have fifteen minuets left you can wait."

"Mr. Richards, it is female emergency." I pick up my bag and start walking out of the class. I head to the bathroom and stand by the sink.

"Dean asked me to Prom? I mean clearly I'm a last choice but damn he asked me?" I take my long brown hair out of the ponytail and shake it. My hair is long and curly just like my mom's was when she was my age. I pull it all into a side braid and start the slow walk back to detention.

when I walk in Dean was gone but Mark was still sitting in his seat.

"Pretty boy's dad came and got him, something about a rouge animal hunt." Mark didn't seem phased but Mr. Richards on the other hand looked pissed.

"GET OUT! both of you just leave, I'm done babysitting. I'll say we said for the whole time." Mark grabbed his shit and ran. I followed closely behind.

Stopping by my locker I see a piece of lined paper typed to it.

Dani, I know I threw prom on you fast today. I'll meet you at the dinner at seven tonight to discuss this more. Please make my night.

-D.W

I smiled lightly. Maybe I wasn't a second choice.

I ran out of the hallway and to a little thrift shop down town. For the first time in my life I was doing something for myself and damn does it feel good.
