This Wasn't In The Plan

Chapter 1

It was Saturday morning and I was running around the apartment like a mad woman trying to pack last minute things for my 1 week cruise with my best friends. Our first stop was Airlie Beach, next was Yorkeys Knob, Port Douglas, Willis Island and then back to Brisbane. I was so excited! It was 10 in the morning and we could start boarding the ship at 11am, so my friends and I have decided we will get there a little after 11 because we don't actually leave Brisbane until 2:30pm.

"Mel!!!" My best friend Carrie shouted from her bedroom, we were roommates, which is what we always dreamed of doing, since we were only little things! "What??" I called back to her. "Come help me close my suitcase, will ya? It won't close!" I laughed as I started walking towards her bedroom, of course she can't close it she probably has her whole wardrobe in there, I think to myself and then crack up laughing when I see her. She is half laying on the suitcase, trying to zip it up, I go and help her, after we closed it I said "So how long are we really going for?", she laughed while saying "Hey, I won't run out of anything!"

After I had left her room, I heard my phone ringing, so I quickly ran to get it. I checked the caller I.D. and seen that it was my boyfriend, Rick, we have been together for a few years now, he was the one that got me through my horrible and terrifying experience with my ex, I shiver thinking about what he did. I try to push the thought out of my mind as I quickly answer my phone with a cheerful "Heeey!". I hear Rick chuckle and reply with "Hey babe!" Rick was going to drive Carrie and me to the Port of Brisbane, to watch us go and say good bye! "What's up?" I say with a smile, "I was just wondering if Carrie wants me to pick up Kyle on my way to get you guys?" Kyle was Carries' boyfriend of nearly 2 years, they were cute together, and I was happy for my best friend because she is always happy when she is with him and anybody could see that. "Oh yeah that would be a good idea" I say to him, happy that he thought of that, "But I won't tell her, it can be a surprise, because they said there goodbyes last night!" I say with a smile! "Okay, so I will pick him up and come around to get you!" He says and I can tell he is smiling, "Sounds good!" I say, "Okay I will see you soon babe, bye, I love you" he says, "I love you too" I say as I hang up the phone.

I check the time and it is 10 to 11 already, Rick and Kyle will be here in a few minutes. "Carrie, Rick will be here in a few minutes" I yell, as she walks down the hallways to the lounge room with her suitcase being pulled behind! "Yep! I am ready" she says with a huge smile on her face.

We both really need this holiday, she has been busy with her studies in becoming a nurse and I have been caught up with all my study in becoming a primary school teacher. We were both exhausted and needed a break!

I hear a car pull up outside our apartment block and look out the window, it's Rick and Kyle "Ricks here" I say to Carrie who is applying lat minute lip gloss. "Okaaay let's go!" She says as we both jump up and down! As we got down to the car, Kyle is no where to be seen, I go straight to Rick and greet him with a kiss and a hug, "Hey!" I say, he kisses me back and smiles. "Hey Carrie!" He says pulling her into a huge bear hug, I just laugh and after I put the bags in the boot, I hop into the passenger side of Ricks four wheel drive. I notice Kyle laying down on the back seat of the car and laugh. Carrie goes to hop in when she notices Kyle and screams "Oh my gosh! What are you doing here??" She says. "Oh you know, thought I would come say bye to my amazing girlfriend!" She pulls him into a big hug and crashes her lips to his. Rick and I just laugh as we drive off. We finally get to the Port, but we can't see any of our friends anywhere, so we decide to buy a coffee and wait a few minutes.

45 minutes past and none of them were here, I decide to call Bec, she finally pics up her phone and I quickly say "Where are you guys!!!", "Oh Mel, we are so sorry, I am on my way, but I have some bad news, it's only me coming now, Chels and Renee have pulled out but they wouldn't tell me why!" She says, and it sounds like she is a little hurt. "Oh okay, talk when you get here then!" I say quickly. "Yeah okay byee"

What was that all about Carrie and the boys ask me as I get off the phone. "Its only, you, Bec and I going now.." I say, "What, why!" Carrie says, worried. "I don't know" I reply. "Well what do we do now.." She says. "I have no idea." I say.. I wonder why the girls aren't coming.. It's very odd I think to myself.
