I attempted to hit him in the face, bringing up my right fist. But, he took hold of my fist, as if it was nothing. His face still held the sly smile and it made me want to punch him...hard.

"You can't hurt me, honey. I'm not human." He whispered, and I extended my left hand hitting him with all of my might on the chest but instead of him showing pain, my fist exploded with an excruciating pain. I winced, shaking out my hand. "What did I tell you, pumpkin?" He teased, his breath fanning my sweating face. I was growing more and more nervous by the second.

"I'll call the cops."

He scoffed. "Right, you go ahead and do that. We're everywhere honeycakes." He said, a pompous smirk on his face.

"I will kill you if you hurt Gabriel."

"Gabriel has never been safer. We will take good care of him." He said, and somehow this stranger's voice seemed to soothe me. It made me feel like I could believe him.

I knew I had to do something. I thought about Gabe.

With a newfound motivation, I brought my right leg up, kneeing the man, or Luke, in the balls. His eyes grew wide in shock and his face contorted in pain as he doubled over in agony. I pushed him away from me quickly, grabbing my towel and my purse from the side table. I slid on my flats and ran out of the hotel room.

I didn't go the manual way, instead I took the emergency stairs. It was dim, and scary, but I was just focused on one thing...getting the hell out of there. As I reached the last step, I looked back up the flight of stairs, not seeing anyone anywhere.

Then, I walked down a long hallway, which was a familiar one. I recognized it as where I'd went before I got ready for my spa treatment. I rushed into the changing room, grabbing a pair of clothes out of a cubby hole and slipping them onto my body as quickly as possible.

Fortunately, the girl whose clothes I was borrowing, well stealing, fit me perfectly. I was wearing a navy blue bandeau, a white crochet tank, dark wash Hollister Co. jeans, and blue & white patterned Keds. Not exactly my everyday attire, but it was simple and I was fine with it. As I pulled on one of my sneakers, I realized there was something inside the shoe. I slid it off, peeking inside to see a silver heart-shaped locket. I was going to set it back down, but I heard the other door to the room opening and I ran out. Without a jacket, I rushed through the chilly hallway, making my way out of the backdoor. I swung it open and ran into the garage of the hotel. I got into my car, driving off with the quickness.

As I drove down the nearly empty streets, I did everything in my power to keep myself from crying. All that kept coming to my mind was the strained voice of my sister telling me to take care of my nephew for her. Within a week, they found her charred body in a drainage ditch. I cringed at the memory, a tear streaming down my face. I didn't know where I was going, but I just kept on driving. My thoughts went back to the man who had told me how inhuman he was.

If he wasn't human, then what was he?

About an hour later, I pulled up to Delaney's home. I rushed up the stairs of her apartment building until I got to her door. I knocked desperately. Soon, a light came on in the window and she came to open the door. She was dressed in a robe and her hair was pulled into a messy bun that was basically failing at it's job. She blinked slowly.

"Beth, what are you doning here?" She asked. I rushed into her apartment and she closed the door, following me to her living room area. We took a seat on her couches, her facing me. "Bethany, what's wrong? What happened?" She asked, her eyes now awake and alert. They were worried as she examined me. "Where's Gabe?"

I looked up at her with sad eyes, and broke out in tears. "I...I don't even know. These guys...they came into our hotel. It was the guy from the wax museum. They-they came in and took Gabe. I fought them off- I tried my hardest- but he was already gone. They took him. I escaped and made a run for it and drove here. Delaney, I am so scared." I said, and she came over to my couch with wide brown eyes. She held me.

"Beth, I am so sorry! Did you call the cops?"

"No, I didn't..Laney, it won't help." I said, grabbing her as she tried to reach for the phone. She gave me a confused look.

"Beth, we have to call the authorities!" She said, and I shook my head. I knew it wouldn't help. Beth reached for the phone, but just as she touched it, someone knocked on the door. Our heads snapped towards each other and then back to the door.

There was no way I was opening that thing.

I stood up slowly, gravitating towards my purse and grabbing it. I looked around the apartment, needing a way out. Delaney raised an eyebrow at me and the person knocked again. I shook my head at her slowly. Every fibre in my body was telling me that it wasn't anything positive standing behind that door.

"Beth-"

Another bang on the door, but this time it was hard and violent. We both jumped, and ran towards the back of the apartment in Delaney's bedroom.

"Get dressed, we have to get out of here!" I whispered harshly. The banging continued as Delaney pulled on a pair of jeans and a white sweater. She also through on a scarf and her North Face jacket. She slid on her Uggs, and grabbed her purse. I slid on her SF University hoodie, due to my lack of jacket and followed her as she slid open her patio door. I thanked God she wasn't at the top of the apartment building. We were only two stories high. The banging became more and more violent, and we could hear the sound of the wood splintering.

"Beth, what the hell is that?!" She asked, and I didn't answer her. I just ushered her through the glass door.

As we stepped into the chilly, San Francisco air I wasted no time unhooking the rusty ladders that were there on the side of the building. I cringed as the sound of the door breaking open was heard. I beckoned for Delaney to climb down first and she did it in ample speed, making it to the bottom in record time. I followed suit, taking one last look in the apartment to see a very angry Luke heading straight towards me with Levi behind him.

When my feet connected with the concrete, Delaney and I hailed Mary for my car. We hopped in, starting the ignition and pulling out of the parking lot.

"Beth, what the hell is going on?" Delaney breathed out, sounding completely stunned. I looked over at her, feeling so sorry for dragging her into my mess. But, I had no one else to turn to.

"I-I don't know, but I think we're being chased."
