The quiet sound of his door sliding open caused Jesse to tense up and grip his sheets tightly. His back was to the door, so he didn't know who had come in... He hadn't been able to sleep... Nightmares... again. They were becoming less common, but that didn't make them any less terrifying when they did happen. The gunslinger shifted to look over his shoulder, seeing his unexpected visitor. It was just Hanzo.

"Startled me a little..." He said, his voice gruff from his lack of sleep. "What're ya doin' here?" He asked, rolling over to face the door rather than keep his neck angled so awkwardly.

Hanzo shifted his feet a little and glanced back into the dimly lit hallway. Like he thought it would be better off if he left... "I was unable to sleep... you had mentioned before that if such a thing occurred that I was free to come here..." He replied hesitantly, his voice shaking a little. Had he been crying?

Jesse frowned as he sat up a little. "Hey... what's wrong? Did somethin' happen?" He asked, his eyebrows knitting together with concern.

Hanzo and Jesse had become increasingly close in the months that the archer had escaped his clan and joined up with Blackwatch. Reyes paired them up often on missions and during training due to how well they worked together (despite the common bouts of harmless arguing that usually just ended in shared grins and eyerolls). The both of them had saved the others ass countless times, and since Hanzo wasn't exactly the 'get out there' type socially, Jesse was happy to hang around him so he didn't get lonely. Plus, the gunslinger genuinely found the archer's company enjoyable. The two of them just... clicked.

"I..." Hanzo trailed off, biting his lower lip and letting his head hang for a moment, his face ended up covered by his hair for a moment before he lifted his head again. "I am just hurting..." He whispered, tears beginning to fall down his cheeks again.

Jesse felt his heart crack a little. He had never seen Hanzo look so defeated... Never. Not after a failed mission. Not after a serious injury... Never. "C'mere... Let the door close behind ya." He said gently, sitting up and brushing his hair back out of his face. It was probably an absolute mess from all his tossing and turning earlier, but he really didn't care how he looked right now.

Hanzo walked into the room, letting the door slip closed. It was quite dark, but he made his way over to Jesse easily. He simply sat down beside the gunslinger, exhaling heavily and propping his elbows up on his knees and covering his face. "I am sorry for bringing my issues to you at this time, but I am having difficulty with being alone right now." He apologized, tilting his head just a little to look at Jesse.

"Aw don't worry yerself with that, Han. I told ya that I'm available when ya need me." Jesse said. "Ya can always rely on me if ya need to. Ya don't have to take care of yourself anymore."

Those words went right to Hanzo's heart. He had never had someone he could depend on... Well, not someone that was doing it by their own choice... "Thank you, Jesse..." He murmured, lifting his head a little as his short burst of tears lessened.

Before he could really stop himself, Jesse reached over and gently wiped a few tears off of Hanzo's cheek. "What's the matter?" He asked, letting his hand fall to rest on the bed between the two of them.

"I have been struggling with... nightmares... of when I was in the clan..." Hanzo said, letting Jesse wipe his tears away. The action was so sweet and gentle... He wasn't used to that sort of contact.

The gunslinger nodded slowly, biting the inside of his cheek slightly. "I'm sorry ya gotta struggle with that sorta stuff, darlin'. I know what it's like..." He sympathized. "I was in a gang before all of this Blackwatch stuff. Did some pretty bad shit.... Had some pretty bad shit happen to me... It sucks."

Hanzo frowned a little. He hadn't known that Jesse was in a gang before this... It explained the tattoo that adorned his inner arm though. The archer had never asked about it before, assuming it was something Jesse probably wouldn't want to talk about. "I am sorry about that."

"Naw... don't be. Ya didn't have anythin' to do with it." The cowboy shrugged.

The two of them fell into a dark silence, both of them mulling over thoughts, and leaving words unspoken... They had never spoken much of their pasts before. Only in fly-by comments. It wasn't something either of them wanted to delve into, so they didn't. He didn't ask one another. The two of them simply came to a sort of understanding with it, and the subject was left alone.

"Thank you, Jesse..." Hanzo spoke finally, looking up at the gunslinger beside him.

"What for?" Jesse asked.

"For... being my friend, I suppose. For letting me come here to you so early... I appreciate it. No one has ever done such a thing for me." The archer clarified.

"Aw ya don't have to thank me for that. I'm just being a good person. Plus, I like bein' here for ya. Everyone needs someone to rely on, and I'm happy to be the someone ya can rely on." Jesse said, smiling a little.

Hanzo allowed himself a smile. Someone to rely on... "You can think the same of me. Whenever you need someone... I will be there for you."

"Hah... ya really know how to make a man blush." Jesse joked, nudging Hanzo a little with his elbow.

The archer rolled his eyes and nudged Jesse back. "You are ridiculous..."

"Ya I know."
