One cloudy morning, Phil Lester woke up as usual. He got up, showered, dressed, and went to the kitchen for some breakfast. He noticed Dan was awake, and shouted to him if he wanted anything from the kitchen. No reply. Phil grabbed a bowl and filled it with milk, and then picked out a box of cereal to go with it. He headed to the living room with his food, and found Dan on the sofa, in his sofa crease, scrolling social media. Phil plopped down on a nearby chair and began eating."Phil?"
"Yeah Dan?"
"Could you get me a coffee from the kitchen?"
"I was in the kitchen before and asked if you wanted something."
"I didn't realize you said something until now."
"Uh, ok," Phil said with a slight grumble.
Phil left his bowl of cereal in the living room and headed to the kitchen. He poured some water into the kettle to boil when he heard a strange sound. It was like, bellows, or the groaning of weird machinery. It sounded kinda echoey and bubbly. Phil was used to the sound of machinery and works on the house next door, but this was different. Shrugging it off, he continued making Dan's coffee. The next moment, Phil absent-mindedly looked out the kitchen window and saw a flash of blue and silver light. The very next moment, a blue police box appeared right where the light was. This shocked Phil, as he knew that part of the street was empty, and he'd never seen anything like that blue box there before. The fact that it appeared so suddenly and with light surrounding it was even more surprising.
Phil stood like a deer in headlights for a moment, then ran down the stairs. Dan, taken back by Phil's sudden marathon down the stairs, shouted at what happened and why was Phil running. Ignoring him, Phil raced down the stairs and flew out the front door. He ran over to the box, not before looking both ways in the street to make sure he wouldn't be run over by a car, and then continued to the box. He stopped just before he crashed into the box, and took a few moments to look over it. It looked like a police telephone box painted blue and made of wood, but it didn't seem like that. He walked around the box, inspecting it some more. Suddenly, he grabbed the door handle and threw open the door. Inside was a sight he could only have dreamed of, or seen in various video games he'd played or tv shows he'd have seen. A large room with an abundance of bright lights; the whole room displaying an orange and green palate of colors, with a warmth that barely any other place in the world had. There were huge pillars extending from the floor to the ceiling, with lots of tubes falling from the ceiling. In the middle of the room was a large structure, with lots of junk on it and a large glass tube with green lights flowing through it in the middle. The next moment, a very tall man in a trench coat and sneakers walked up to Phil, almost catching him by surprise.
"Hullo! What's your name then?"
"Umm, Phil. Phil Lester. And you are...?"
"I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor who?"
"Just the Doctor."
"Umm, what is this thing?"
"This here is the Tardis. My space ship. It can also travel in time. Time and Relative Dimensions In Space, Tardis."
A few moments after Phil arrived at the Tardis, Dan followed him out of the house. He had just closed the front door when he saw Phil go into the Tardis. Dan ran over to the blue box to see what the fuss was about. He stopped for a split second because this looked a bit ridiculous; why'd Phil go into a police box that was just big enough to hold him? Then Dan opened the door, and almost fell over when he stepped inside. This, this, couldn't be real. It went against everything Dan ever believed in. It was impossible, improbable, crazy. But, also good. Amazing, even. Dan jumped when the Doctor came over to him and touched his shoulder.
"You okay, mate? You look a lil pale."
"Me? Uh, I'm fine, thanks. Uh, what is this?"
"Its some kind of time and space machine called the Tardis," Phil replied before the Doctor could.
"Wait what?? That's not right, time travel is impossible, and why's your box bigger on the inside?" Dan felt faint again, thinking at how impossible and crazy this all seemed like.
"Not impossible. I mean sure, impossible for humans right now in the 21st century, you people spent way too much time on your petty squabbles and fights and wars, of course you didn't have the time nor the intelligence for that matter to develop time travel. Nah, I don't think you'll even develop the beginnings of time travel for another 500 years.
Dan felt quite annoyed at this remark, seeing as this man just called everyone on earth stupid, including himself.
"But us Timelords have had time and space travel for millennia. And we were smart enough to not always be so petty and violent."
"Wait.... Timelords, what's that?"
"Is that some type of alien species?" Phil blurted out.
"Phil don't be ridiculous!" Dan replied with a look of annoyance on his face.
"No, no, he's completely right."
"Say again?" Dan actually could have lost consciousness at this point; everything was too much of a shock.
"Aliens. I'm an alien. Not an illegal one from another country, mind you, an alien from another planet. From another time, too, actually."
Dan was too freaked by this. A time and space machine, bigger on the inside than the outside? An alien from another time and planet who looked exactly like a human? This was too improbable, and Dan lived by being logical and rational. But, then again, some of his greatest fears were about the unknown, the supernatural. He ran towards the door, when it suddenly slammed shut just before he reached the handle. It locked itself, and another moment later he and Phil were violently thrown across the room.
