"Where have you been?" Fred demanded for an answer the second his front door had flown open.

"Geez, relax. I was just at the park." Archie shrugged off, walking past his father.

"Archie—" His father spoke, about to start a lecture about how he needed to call and other bullshit that fits into that criteria.

"—I think I'm going to head to bed, night." Archie spoke, laughing to himself as he ignored his father's protests and walked straight to his room and locked the door behind him.

The instant he had entered the safety of his locked room, he powered on his laptop, tapping his foot impatiently as he waited for it to load. As it did so, he quickly punched in his login and password, opening his default browser as he was greeted by the home screen of his laptop.

"Veronica.. Lodge." Archie mumbled to himself as he typed it into the search engine.

He watched as numerous articles about the Lodges popped up, specifically about Hiram Lodge, Veronica's father. He skimmed through the search results, slamming down the top of his laptop and pushing it aside in frustration when no results that he had wanted had appeared.

"I—why can't I stop thinking about it?" He groaned and kicked the edge of his desk in annoyance.

Tomorrow would be a brand new day, a new day to get Veronica Lodge—any trace of her—out of his mind.

You recall how I mentioned that Archie was trying to get her out of his mind? That plan just took a twist along the way

You recall how I mentioned that Archie was trying to get her out of his mind? That plan just took a twist along the way..

"Hey, Archie." Cheryl greeted, a mischievous grin spreading across her face, "You know how you owed me a favor?"

"What is it, Cheryl?" Archie sighed as he regrettably hated himself for promising a favor back to her for what she had done for him, but then again The Pussycats actually listened to him.

"So.. I have a proposition for you. And don't give me that face, Archie. Trust me when I say you'll enjoy it." When she got no response she continued, "Alright, here's the deal. I have a Vixen that seriously likes you like crazy and I was hoping—"

"—that's not happening, Cheryl. No way." Archie spoke as his face scrunched up in disgust at the mere suggestion of hooking up with a random cheerleader.

"C'mon Archie. You could get laid, with it being your birthday and all. Besides, my proposition was just for you to invite her to your party tonight. If you choose to go farther.. well, that's up to you." Cheryl replied, running her red acrylics down the arm of the couch.

"If I do this, are we even?" Archie asked, watching as Cheryl nod in reply, "Then, fine. I'll invite her. Who is it?"

"Veronica Lodge." Cheryl replied with a smirk, "Ta-ta for now." She spoke before leaving.

"You have got to be kidding me." Archie groaned as he dropped his head into his hands.

After a minute of hesitation he finally got up and walked down the hall until he found Veronica at her locker.

"Hey.." He greeted awkwardly.

"Hi.. Happy Birthday.. And look if this was about yesterday, don't sweat it.. It's fine. Water under the bridge." Veronica said, shaking her head as she turned back to her locker.

"Thanks and no, uh, actually.. I wanted to invite you to my party tonight." Archie spoke, watching as Cheryl stopped across the hall and looked at him and Veronica intensely.

Veronica caught his glance and frowned as she saw Cheryl.

"I—I get it now. This was all Cheryl's doing. It's fine, I'll tell her she doesn't have to force you to invite me. I know when I'm not wanted at this point." She replied as she closed her locker and proceeded to go talk to Cheryl.

Archie grabbed her arm as she turned around and pulled her back.

"Veronica.." Archie called out.

"No, seriously. It's fine." Veronica mustered before walking towards Cheryl.

A few hours before Archie's party, the doorbell rang and he ran down the stairs to get the door, assuming it was his dad

A few hours before Archie's party, the doorbell rang and he ran down the stairs to get the door, assuming it was his dad.

"Veronica?" He questioned as he opened the door and the Latina came into view.

"Hey.. I'm not staying or anything just wanted to drop this off.. Happy Birthday, Archie." Veronica said with a seemingly forced smile before handing him a long rectangular wrapped present.

"Thanks, but you didn't need to get me anything." Archie replied but Veronica shook it off.

"It's nothing big really.. Well, I'm off. See you around." Veronica rushed as she left and Archie closed the door in confusion.

He ran back up to his room and inspected the outside of the gift.

After moments of hesitation he decided to finally open it. Inside was a ukelele with a small bow tied around it.

Glancing around the box, he pulled out a card stuck slightly underneath the small instrument.

Hey Archie,

You're probably wondering why I showed up to give you this today. Well, I thought at least you could get some happiness out of life. I'm done pretending my life's great and fine, I'm done with it all. But at least after this, all my problems will go away. I can't be Betty, as much as I'd want to, but in the end I only get in the way, not being around seems to be the solution..

This is goodbye, Archiekins..

Forever and always,
Veronica Lodge.

Archie felt a split second of fear run through him as he read the card, tossing everything on his bed and quickly rushing out of the house.

He had to find her, before something happened, before Veronica Lodge finally lost herself.
