"Good morning" Skyler greeted me on the way to school Monday morning, her hair straightened, her makeup flawless

"Hey, how was your weekend?" I walked alongside her, Luke and Andy walking a few meters ahead of us

She shrugged "It was okay, how are your grandparents?"

I hated telling her they were doing well. I felt as though I would be rubbing it in her face, so I always gave her a short response.

"They're fine, it's always nice to spend time with them"

"Your grandmother is the cutest, I remember when she came with your mum to pick you up from school one time, and it was raining and she had on a bright yellow coat, yellow gumboots and a matching umbrella" Skyler laughed

I cringed at the memory, despite knowing her intentions were not to make me the laughing stock for a full 3 months.

"She still has no dress sense" I sighed "I think it's actually getting worse"

"But you know what's funny? That'll probably be us one day with our grandkids, embarrassing the hell out of them, thinking we're super cool when we're actually super lame"

"True" I nodded with a laugh "It's kind of an endless circle isn't it? Like a sick and twisted tradition"

"Could be worse" She shrugged "We could be a Newscot, the name in itself is a big yellow raincoat and boots, it stands out anywhere and people automatically think it's crazy"

In that moment, I knew she was right.
I complained about having a loving, beautiful, all good intention filled grandmother attempting to be cool around her grandkids, and the Newscot's had murder and tarnished reputation labelled on their record.
How was that fair?
Andy and Danny were innocent in all of this, they did not deserve to live the way they did, all because of someone else's decisions.

9am, Skyler and I hurried into math class, late due to the heated argument that arose between Skyler, Paisley and I.
Unfortunately, the session Mathew and I had had at Isaacs party had not gone unspoken about. Skyler had discovered the details and was livid about the poor choice I had made, whereas Paisley had encouraged it by not stopping it.
In reality, it was my own fault. I was responsible for me, not Paisley. I would be the one to suffer the consequences of my poor actions.
I was well aware of what was to come in repercussion.

The second I entered math class, Mathew's eyes drew on me. I could feel his gaze burning into my face, proud and hungry for more. I did my best to ignore it, but when he took his habitual seat behind us, beside Danny, it was near impossible to ignore what was to going to go down.

"This is going to be bad already" Skyler sighed, also aware of the trouble that would arise

Five minutes into Mrs Clareton beginning, a hushed "pst" was directed toward me from behind

"Go away Mathew" I whispered loudly yet indirectly, keeping my face forward

"I missed you, I was waiting for a phone call all weekend, I was hoping to finish what we started" He suggestively slithered

I leaned my head back, already exhausted from his immature behaviour

"Emilia, don't think you can start something like that with me and then just walk away from it" He continued, fishing for a bite

This time, Skyler reacted, turning in her seat with narrow eyes "You're a one time thing Mathew, don't you get it? She only ever touches you when she's drunk, is that not a good enough clue for you? It's pretty embarrassing for you to assume she'd be interested in you when she's sober" She attempted to laugh it off, insulting him
