I slowly opened my eyes to see brightness above me. I glanced down at my arm and saw it was blood stained. Someone had cut my arm. I could see Aylor and Josh talking to each other a few feet away from me, tears streaking their faces.
Aylor glanced my way and gasped.
"Oh thank goodness." He said quickly and slurred. Josh spun his head my way, a sad look on his face.
"Sorry, I had to take your tracker out." He said, showing me his arm, which was bloody like mine. Aylor's was too.
"Why?" I asked, my throat sore from crying and screaming so much and lack of water.
"So that they can't keep track of us," Josh said, rudely. Just then, I remembered Ali and Lethan. That brought tears to my eyes.
"What happened to him?" I asked, looking mostly at Aylor. I could see the locket around his neck. The one Ali had been wearing.
"Ethan? Helicarrier came just after you blacked out." Josh replied for Aylor. Aylor was just staring at his hands in his lap, covered in blood.
"Aylor?" I said to him. He didn't look up. Josh sighed.
"He's a mental Avox. Shock and sadness causing him to be speechless." Josh said. I kept my eyes trained on Aylor. He was crying, tears streaming from his face, and he was muttering inaudible words.
That's when I heard something in the sky. I looked up and saw a helicarrier in the sky above us. Even Aylor look up at the floating aircraft.
"Attention tributes," a man's voice said, coming from the helicarrier. "There can only be one winner. May the odds be even in your favor."
I didn't get up, and neither did Josh or Aylor. They couldn't force us to fight.
"They don't have to have their winner," I said to the boys. They agreed with me. I looked beside me and saw just what I needed.
Nightlock berries.
Just like Katniss and Peeta.
Make them realize their mistake.
I grabbed a couple off the stem and was just about to plop them into my mouth when i felt Josh's hand on mine. I looked up and his jaw was hanging open.
"Together." He said. Aylor was now beside us, nodding. I plopped a berry into each of their hands, keeping one for myself.
"One," I said.
"Two," Josh said. Aylor sighed, lifting up the berries.
"Three." He whispered. I felt the berries touch my lips when a voice erupted through the arena.
"Stop!" It yelled. "Let me introduce the 99th Hunger Games Victors, Joshua Thorne, Aylor Willows, and Neia Shields!"
I threw the berries off to the side, spitting after. Josh was doing that too. Aylin just stood still, though, the berries barely touching his lips. He looked as if he were contemplating actually eating them. I reached out and hugged him, feeling his arms drop. I heard the berries hit the ground with soft patters, and I felt Aylor's eyelids brush against my neck as we hugged.
A helicarrier came a few minutes later and we were lifted up into it. They had separated me from the boys, taking me into my own room to get my wounds healed.
Alycer's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I felt a huge shock wave get sent through my body, like getting hit by lightning, only having no pain. There were footsteps and a sound of a door opening and closing. I still couldn't open my eyes, so I fell back into a black abyss.
When I woke up again, I could open my eyes. I stared up at a white ceiling. I only then felt the itchy hospital gown I was in, and I slowly sat up.
That's when it all came to me.
I had died in the Games.
I had been stabbed in the gut.
How was I still alive?
I spotted folded clothes on the edge of my bed and got out of the bed. There didn't seem to be any windows in this room, so I changed into the clothes. A white jumpsuit with white spandex underwear and a white bra. I found my leather boots and slid them on, on top of my white stockings. My hair was super silky and soft, and I noticed it was longer than it was and it was wavy. There wasn't any ponytails around, so it looked like I was going to have to leave it down.
That's when I heard a sucking sound behind me.
I turned around to be barreled into a hug by someone I knew.
"Ali. Thank goodness." Ethan said, squeezing me tightly. I hugged him tightly too.
"Ethan. Why-" he cut me off as he let go of me.
"Right after that boy stabbed you, I got hit with a sword in the side. They healed me in a jiffy, but they thought you weren't gonna make it."
"They? Who's they?" I asked. His eyes widened and he looked around.
"The Game Makers brought us back." He said. I gasped. They've never done that before. Ever. Maybe this was a special occasion?
"Why, Ethan?"
He shrugged. "I have an idea. I just hope I'm wrong."
"What's your idea?"
"I think they're gonna use us in the next Games."
