It was a couple days after Payton found out about the news of her dad. Both Daniel and Payton are gonna fly to Texas for the funeral.
"Daniel." Payton shakes Daniel to wake up. "Babe." She says jumping on top of him waking him up. "Oh my god." Daniel wakes up scared. "Morning." Payton smiles. "What time is it?" Daniel asks in his morning voice. "It's 6:30" Payton looks at Daniels alarm clock. "In the morning?" Daniel groans. "Yes." Payton laughs. "Our flight is at 8:00. So get up." Payton climbs off Daniel and pulls his covers off him and he laughs. Payton walks back to her room and changes into a clean outfit. She grabs her duffle bag and walks over to Daniel's room. She stops at his doorway and just looks at him. Looking at him just makes her realize how lucky she his and how special he is to her. What if he does get into this boy band? Where would she go? What would she do?
"Ready love?" Daniel snaps Payton out of her thoughts. "Yea." Payton smiles grabbing her bag. "I got it for you." Daniel grabs Payton's bag. She follows him downstairs to greet his parents. "Good morning Payton." Keri smiles at her and smiles. "Good morning Keri. Morning Jeff." Payton hugs them. "You guys have everything ready?" Keri asks. "Yea boarding passes and everything." Daniel says. "Alright well. Your Uber just got here I think so I'll help with the bags." Daniel's dad says and he grabs Daniel and Payton's bags. "Be safe you guys." Daniel's mom hugs him. "Mom we'll be fine. We're only gonna be gone a day." Daniel laughs and Payton smiles. "I hope you're doing okay honey." Keri smiles at Payton. "I'm getting there." Payton half smiles and hugs Keri.  Daniel and Payton walk out to their Uber and say their goodbyes to his parents and head to the airport. They arrive at the airport, checked in their bags and went through security. A couple fans went up to them, took some pictures and talked a little bit. "Is Trevor gonna be town?" Daniel asks. "He's not actually sadly. He's in LA working on some of his stuff." Payton says. "I miss him though." She adds in and Daniel hugs her.
Daniel and Payton wait to board the plane. Payton finally took to Twitter to post about her dad.
"I love you dad so much. Thank you for taking care of me and working so hard to support the both of us. You were taken away from me so soon, I didn't say goodbye. I regret that. But I know you're happy now and stress free. Always watching me. Rest In Peace daddio. Say hi to mom for me. ❤️👼🏼" Payton tweeted with some
pictures of her and her dad. She automatically got support from fans and made her lighten the mood.
"On our way to Texas! 😄" Daniel tweets and tags Payton.
They finally board the plane and sit next to each other. The plane took off and after a 3 hour flight, they arrive in Dallas, Texas. "This is my first time in Texas you know." Daniel looks over at Payton. "Well tomorrow I'll show you around." Payton smiles and kisses him on the cheek. "What are the plans today?" Daniel asks. "It's about 2pm right now. The funeral is at 5pm. We can head to the hotel, get some food and just hang out. Tomorrow, I wanna go to the house and kinda just look around." Payton explains and Daniel just looks at her. "What?" Payton smiles looking at him. "You're just....the most amazing person ever." Daniel side smiles and Payton blushes. "I didn't do anything. I was just talking about plans." Payton laughs. "Doesn't matter. Wether you're talking, staring off into space or singing, it just makes me realize how lucky I am to have you." Daniel looks at her. "You're so cheesy." Payton smiles and looks away. "I love you. You know that right?" Daniel takes Payton's hand and she smiles. "I love you too Danny." Payton kisses him. They walk off the plane, find their bags and find an Uber. The Uber takes them to a hotel not too far away.
"Thank you sir." Daniel tips the Uber driver and they check into their hotel room.
"Babe, look at this view." Daniel looks out the window. "Man, who knew coming back home would be sad." Payton tears up. "You're gonna be okay. I promise. You got me." Daniel hugs her. "I miss him Danny." Payton says into his shoulder. "I know you do. It's okay to though. I miss him too. He's a great guy to me." Daniel says. "He really liked you Daniel. I just can't believe we didn't say goodbye." Payton let's go of Daniel. "It's all gonna be okay." Daniel kisses Payton on the forehead and she smiles. "It's almost 3. You wanna walk around town and maybe get something to eat? I know great places." Payton looks at Daniel. "I'd love that." Daniel smiles. They both grab their wallets and phones and walk out of the hotel. The city of Dallas was so nice and the warm summer breeze hits their faces. Payton finds a spot to eat and they walk inside to see the place almost empty. "This is just a small cafe, it's only busy in the morning and at like 8pm." Payton sits down. "I really like it actually. It's peaceful." Daniel smiles and sits next to her. They order their food and just eat and talk about whatever is on their minds.

It was about time to head over to the funeral. Payton finishes getting ready and meets Daniel by the window. "Okay I'm ready." Payton walks up to Daniel. "Aw you look cute." Payton tells Daniel as he turns around. He's wearing a nice dress shirt with jeans and nice shoes. "You look beautiful." Daniel smiles at her. Payton is wearing a short flowy dress with wedges. "You're wearing your dog tag." Daniel points to the dog tag necklace he got her for her birthday while they were on idol. "I always have it with me. I just thought maybe I'd wear it tonight." Payton smiles. "Our Uber is here. Ready to go?" Daniel asks grabbing his phone. "I guess I am." Payton chuckles and they head to the lobby where their Uber is waiting. They then arrive at the funeral home and the couple are greeted by a bunch of her dad's co-workers.
"Hi Ricky!" Payton walks up to her dad's partner. "Hello Payton! How are you?" Ricky hugs her. "I'm getting there." Payton hugs back. "This is my boyfriend Daniel." Payton introduces him. "Hello sir." Daniel shakes Ricky's hand. "Ah hello Daniel. My daughter's a big fan of you." Ricky says. "Oh cool! Tell her I say hi!" Daniel smiles and Ricky nods. "The service is gonna start soon. Your dad is in there." Ricky says. "Thanks so much." Payton says and takes Daniel's hand. They walk to the door and she takes a deep breath. "You can do this." Daniel whispers to her. She nods and Daniel puts his arm around her. They walk into the room and Payton sees the open casket from where she is. She doesn't see her dad yet but it felt like a long walk towards the casket. They both finally walk up to the casket. Payton looks down at her dad and he's lying there. Resting peacefully. "Oh my god." Payton tears up. She touches his face and tears roll down her eyes. Payton cries while holding Daniel hands. Daniel comforts her while his eyes tear up too. The service then started and took their seats. They went through the service and there were a lot of tears. After the service, everyone went to the cemetery for the burying. Payton requested to have him buried next to her mother so they can be together. Her dad was buried in the casket with his gun he used on the field. Daniel and Payton watched as they put her dads casket in the ground and buried him up. Payton couldn't help but cry and hold Daniel. With just a couple minutes later, it was over. He was officially gone. Payton got to see him one last time and touch him one last time. "Payton?" Ricky walks up to her and Daniel. "Hi Ricky. The service was great thank you." Payton hugs him. "It was my pleasure. He was a great guy." Ricky smiles. "I have some news for you." Ricky starts to say. "Your dad wanted you to have the money he's worked for." Ricky says and Payton looks shocked. "But why?" Payton asks. "He has no one in the family to give it to other than you. Plus, he would want you to put it toward whatever you need for your career." Ricky explains. "I'm talking to an insurance guy for you tomorrow." Ricky says. Payton grows a big smile on her face. "Thank you so much." Payton tells him. "Also, some guys and I are gonna be at your house looking through some stuff. We'll put some stuff in storage and what not and I'll get a relator about the house." Ricky adds in. "You guys are putting the house up for sale?" Payton asks. "I mean I understand you are living up in Portland right now. I don't think you'll be moving back anytime soon." Ricky says. Payton just starts thinking. "You're right Ricky. Thanks. Daniel and I are gonna be at the house tomorrow too before we leave." Payton says. "Ok cool. Then maybe I'll see you two there." Ricky smiles. They said their goodbyes and Daniel and Payton took and Uber back to the hotel.

It was about 12 am and Payton and Daniel ordered late night room service and they were just eating and watching a movie. "So, what did you think about the money situation?" Daniel asks Payton sitting criss cross across from her on the bed. "I don't know Danny." Payton chuckles. "I mean I can put it towards college. Maybe even an apartment." Payton says. "An apartment?" Daniel looks at her. "I mean, I have no where to go." Payton looks down. "But what about my place?" Daniel asks. "Babe, I can't live with you forever. It's not like I don't love being with you, I do. But, I only was there to make our EP while my dad was away." Payton explains. "Plus, what if you do get in that boy band?" Payton looks at him. "Don't think about that right now." Daniel grabs Payton's hand. "I just don't want to live in a house with your family if you're not there. I love your family Danny but I promised them I won't be there forever." Payton chuckles. "Even if I don't get in this boy band?" Daniel asks. "I still don't want to cause your parents any trouble. They took care of me enough and I extremely appreciate that." Payton smiles. "I promise Danny, I'll figure something out." Payton kisses Daniel. "What if we get a place together?" Daniel asks. "What?" Payton looks at him. "How about...if I don't end up getting this boy band deal, we get an apartment together? We can still be together and work on music." Daniel looks at her. "Daniel..." Payton starts to say. "We get a place once we turn 18 and be together. I don't want you living alone if I'm still in Portland." Daniel says. "Listen, I'll think about it. But if you do get this deal with the boy band, you should take it. You're audition is this Friday, you should focus on killing it." Payton smiles. "You want me to take this opportunity?" Daniel asks. "Danny, making music is your passion." Payton says. "Making music with YOU is my passion." Daniel looks at her. "Daniel please, you'll enjoy being with a bunch of guys. It's been a while since you sang with some guys. The past two years it's been us." Payton says. "Maybe it's time to start pursuing our dreams in different ways." Payton smiles and Daniel sighs. "How about this..." Daniel starts to say. "If I DO get into this boy band, I'll take it and make music with them. If I DON'T though, we can still be together and make music together." Daniel says. "Deal." Payton smiles and kisses Daniel. The rest of the night they watched more movies and cuddled a little bit and fell asleep next to each other. The next day, Payton and Daniel went to her house and looked through her dad's stuff. She took home a couple of her dad's shirts and a family picture. Payton picked up some stuff from her room to take home. Daniel and Payton then headed to the airport to head back to Portland.
