I slowly opened my eyes as the sun peaked through the small windows of my bedroom.
Today is the day. No time to be nervous, right?
I feel the knots in my stomach grow stronger; I really don't want to mess up my only chance.
Don't think like that Riyna!
I took a deep breath, I slowly inhaled, and exhaled. "Everything is going to be okay, I'm going to meet a lovely family," I told myself, surprisingly it made me feel better, but I still have that sting of doubt in the back of my mind. I shake my head, and I started to get ready for work.
. . .
It took me a half hour to decide what to wear; I wanted to look good for my first day on the job. Blouse, after blouse, pants, after pants. I finally figured out what to wear; gray hoodie, blue t-shirt, jeans, and black, and white converse sneakers. I tied my hair back into a high ponytail.
"Ready," I told myself.
I walked out of my bedroom into the kitchen. I poured myself some orange juice, and I grabbed a blueberry muffin as I sat down next to my father. I held the cup up to my lips as I sipped the juice from my cup.
"You better hurry if you want to be on time, I can drive you there," dad offered, looking up at me while putting the newspaper down as he spoke.
I set my cup down on the table before I spoke. "I can walk, it's actually on the next block. It's not a problem," I replied.
"If you're sure..."
"I'm sure," I said, confidently. I nodded to my dad, and he went back to reading his newspaper.
I wish he would show some concern for me.
I smiled at my dad, but he didn't notice it. I decided to ignore it, and I continued to finish eating my breakfast. Ten minutes later, I leave for work.
. . .
It wasn't hard to figure out where this house was. I asked a few people for guidance, and they helped me reach my destination. When I spoke to these people most of them said: "The Hakim's are the wealthiest family here. You can't miss their house! It's a bright white color, at the end of the block. They are also the most amazing people you will ever meet!" I took their word for it.
I arrived at Hakim's household. It was even bigger than I imagined. It was huge! I was star struck by how big the house was I almost forgot to ring the doorbell. I walked up to the house it was surrounded by tons of green grass on all sides. I ringed the doorbell. You may be wondering why he didn't send me his address through email? Well, it's because when you live in a small town everyone knows everybody, especially this one, they help each other out, and most of them are good at directions to anything in this town. On the application, it says: "ask anyone around town, they will show you the way," kind of like some sort of riddle.
The door slowly opened revealing a young man with; black hair, his bangs swept to the left side of his face, green eyes, tan skin color, he was tall, and he looked young to be a dad. I had a feeling he likes wearing casual clothes because all he wore was a black t-shirt and jeans. I stood there for a second not sure what to do; it felt like a million years passed by.
"Hello Ms. Jaim," he said, he bowed his head to me.
"It's actually Riyna, Mr. Hakim," I replied.
"Well, come on in Riyna" he gestured me to come inside.
I walked inside, and I heard him follow behind me. My eyes go wide with amazement. Everything looked even better on the inside, brown staircases, white walls; wow this guy loves his white stuff. I can't help but feel excited all of a sudden.
