Chapter 1:
Looking at myself in the mirror, I pull at my waist long straight hair in frustration. I hate having straight hair, even when I was little girl, my black locks just got in my way while playing in the mud outside. Along with that, I haven't grown an inch since my 15th birthday, 5'0 and a petite build had me wishing for a growth spurt.
"Sky!"
I jump in front of the mirror, startled, at the sound of my mother's voice. I turn away from the mirror. "What?!" I shout back. Waiting a minute, I get no response. Frustrated, I head towards the kitchen, not noticing the wind that closes my door on it's own.
Before turning towards the kitchen, I hear whispers.
Crouching lowly so I wont be seen, I peek a look into the kitchen. There are two men, one blond and one ginger, talking to my mom. Both men seem to tower over my mom in weird guard uniforms, complete with handcuffs and gun. My mom looks pissed off with her hands on her hips and steaming red face.
"You can't just take her from me, I'm all she's ever known," I hear my mom tell Blondie. He looks annoyed and tells my mom, "We're sorry, but Her Majesty requested her retrieval."
What? 'Her Majesty'? Who the hell is that? Something about this guy pisses me off and I catch a glimpse of a silver necklace with an iron fist pendant. "I won't allow it!" My mother raises her voice, and the Blondie nods to Ginger. As Ginger reaches for the gun I feel my heart clench, they can't hurt Mom. On impulse, I jump in front of my mom as he aims towards her.
"No!" I thrust my arms outward as both guards fly back, a powerful wind seemingly pushing them away. "What the fuck?" I whisper as I stare at my hands.
"Mom?" I turn around to look at her, and she doesn't seem surprised. "Mom what's happening to me?"
"Oh hun, I'm so sorry," she whispers wrapping her arms around me. She continues, "I need you to listen to me, okay? I can't bear for anyone else to tell you. Your grandmother wants you to go back to England to her."
"Mom, grandma is dead, remember? We went to her funeral last year," I tell my mother, confused. What happened to her? Is she going crazy? My mom touches my chin and turns me to face her. "Sweetheart, that wasn't your real grandmother," she states, with a face full of sympathy.
"What do you mean? Mom, are you okay?" I can't believe what she's telling me. Plus this still doesn't explain what the hell just happened. "What does this have anything to do with those men, and whoever they were calling 'Her
Majesty'?
We hear the men grunting, signaling their awakening. I shoot a scared glance towards mom. "Honey, I'm afraid I can't tell you much more. Please, remember you will always be my daughter." I hear a click and I turn slowly. Ginger his gun aimed directly at me.
"You're coming with us."
