"Okay, just spit it out" Bianca said as soon as the waitress left the two girls alone at the restaurant table. "What have you been hiding for me these days?"
"What?" Leah pretended that there was nothing going on with her life, although she really knew what she was talking about. She had been distant for a few days and her friend had already tried to make her confess what was keeping her like that. But Leah had been a master in avoiding the matter.
It was Friday night and the girls had decided to go out and have dinner in a little Thai restaurant in the Paseo del Prado, right in front the biggest museum in the city. They lived just two underground stations away and had agreed to go back home early, although by early it could also be understood around 7 in the morning (because that's early in the morning too). It was still hot, just a usual late summer night in Madrid and they were enjoying the air conditioning while waiting for their Pad Thai with shrimps.
"Don't you try to avoid it now, you have no scape now" the blonde looked directly at her friend. "It's so obvious you've been up to something and we're not going to leave this place until you confess" Leah slightly chuckled, she knew how stubborn her friend could be and at the back of her mind she was aware that she would eventually make her speak about it, but she wanted to know for long she could hold up.
"Well, I think you need to be a little more accurate" Leah shrugged and played with one of her French braids. She was a little bit down that evening; Mr Sainz hadn't shown up for his lecture much for her disgrace. All of her class mates were over the moon because they could go home an hour earlier but she was more than eager to see his raven locks again.
"Is it because of that stupid assignment for Statistics? Don't worry, I have no idea how to do it either but I signed us up in the group with that Dutch guy that always sits at the front. He looks somewhat better than us with numbers"
"I didn't even know we had to make it, but thank you?" the American girl took a sip of wine as the waitress laid their dishes on the table. "Are you sure you signed us up with him because you care about our grades or just because you wanted his number?"
"Hm... Why do you always think I do everything just for boys? I mean, I actually care for us" Bianca blushed and shook her as you raised your eyebrows. "Never mind, we were talking about you. So, is it because of a boy? There aren't many hot guys in our classes but maybe..."
"You see, you make everything about guys!" she laughed and started eating. It was actually about a guy, but not exactly the type of guy she would expect.
"Just answer!" Leah rolled her eyes and Bianca nodded excited. "I'll take that as a yes. So, who is it?"
Leah stayed in silence as Bianca tried to guess the guy. Her mind drifted to Carlos, she wanted to know where he was. She wanted to see him so badly, as he had told her, she felt addicted to him.
"I think you should forget about it, nothing is going on" she interrupted Bianca in her rambling. "I mean, just... Yeah, whatever"
"Don't whatever at me! I thought we were friends" she could see she was getting rather frustrated as her accent got thicker. She let out a small sigh, thinking about her favourite Spanish drawl. "It must be a really secret thing if you are hiding it from me. Are you a spy from the CIA or something like that?"
"Okay, you've got me there" Leah laughed and took the last sip of wine of her glass. "It's nothing important, don't worry"
"We've moved from nothing is going on to it's nothing important, nice" Bianca finished her dinner and rested her elbows on the table. "Did you have dirty thoughts with Professor Giovinazzi although you know he's mine? If it is that, don't worry, I forgive you. You can still be my bridesmaid at my wedding" Leah chuckled; her friend was surely a drama queen. "Although I think you're more into Mr Sainz..." and the American girl blushed all in a sudden.
