Parker's POV

I moved to Bayville a few years ago, and the odds were definitely not in my favor. Right when I got here, I was immediately bullied. I was just sitting at lunch one day and two guys walked over to me and asked what was wrong with me. I was a sophomore then.

Sophomore me was still an introvert. I always had a book with me and making friends was the hard part. The two guys asked me why I was reading. I just ignored them. Then, the darker haired guy picked me up by my collar and pushed me against the wall.

"Answer the question dork!!!" He yelled in my face. The cafeteria was silent. I waited for my punishment. Suddenly, I heard, "Put him down Ross."

Ross turned around. He grabbed the other guy's collar and told him, "Or what? You gonna beat me up?" And the rest was too graphic... Okay I left. I didn't see what happened. I ran to the guys restroom and waited until the bell rang. I heard a guy's voice. "It's okay dude. He's not gonna hurt you."

I walked out and saw the guy that stood up for me. He didn't have any marks on him, so I guess he didn't get hurt.

"I'm Marcus."

"Parker."

"Cool name. What grade are you in?"

"Sophomore."

"Me too."

And that's the story of how Marcus and I became friends. Now back to present day.

I woke up extra early to get donuts and coffee for Savana. I've had a crush on her since I moved here, and I've tried to ask her out before, but she's always busy. Especially this year. She's working for the newspaper and applying for college; she's just really busy, but we're still good friends.

I went for the donuts and coffee and came back. Her mom and dad were already up, and they don't mind me coming in since Savana and I are friends. I walked up to her door and knocked. "It's me."

I heard footsteps, and she opened the door."Whatsup pac man?"

"It's the first day, and I wanted to surprise you... I got you coffee and donuts."

I hand her the warm coffee, and she drank it. Her eyes lit up when the caffeine got to her system

"So, how was photography week?" I asked.

"It was cool. I took rose for a day, and now she had endless pictures for her Instagram."

"Typical rose. So are u free tomorrow?"

"Actually Parker, I already have plans. I'm actually going to the newspaper to work on my first story."

"Oh. Well maybe another time."

"Yeah definitely. Look, I'm sorry that I haven't talked to you much. I've just been really busy lately with newspaper and college and all."

"It's okay Sav. I get you're busy."

"Okay. Do you need a ride to school?"

"Do you mind?"

"Not at all. We have to stop by Rosie's though."

"Okay that's fine."

By then it was 6:15. It felt early, but Rose lived on the other side of town.

When we got to Rose's house, she was already on the curve. I looked at Savana, then back at Rose. They had different personalities, but they acted so similar.

"Hey guys."

"Woah. Last time I saw you, you had your braces still." I pointed out.

"I got them out yesterday. Just in time for first last day at Bayville high. And guess who is head cheerleader this year?"

"You Rosie. You've been talking about it for weeks." Savana and I laughed.

"I have? Oops..."

Savana laughed. Her laugh was so cute.

When we got to school we went to our lockers. I'm taking AP Chemistry, AP literature, and Programing... I'm thinking about going into gaming and making games, but I'm still unsure.

After Rose left, I went with Savana to the cafeteria. She pulled out her laptop and started typing.

"Whatcha working on Sav?"

"It's a narrative for my blog."

"You have a blog?"

"Over the summer project. I wanted to keep working on it."

"Ah. Well that makes sense."

She went back to typing, and I noticed that her eyes moved faster when she typed. She was the writer of the group. She observed everything about the world. I'd read some of her stories and narratives. They were really good. Then it hit me.

We could never be together. She's already busy, and she wouldn't want a relationship. In that moment I decided something. I would stop liking her, and I did, but something about her still had me, and I couldn't figure it out.
