Savanna's POV
I finished typing the last few words of my blog before looking up and seeing Parker with his head on the table. His beanie slowly falling off of his blonde hair. I have to admit, he looked pretty cute then and there, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized I liked him. Me... liking Parker... I mean of course I knew he liked me... but I LIKED HIM... No Savanna snap out of it. You're too busy. Just be friends with him. Let him sleep. And I did... until the bell finally rang... and he woke up.
I laughed. His beanie fell onto the table, and his right cheek had a mark on it.
"You got a little something on your cheek there Pac."
"Well wipe it off."
I did as I was told. I wiped the mark as best as I could, feeling his face against my fingertips... SAVANNA NO. DO NOT DO THIS AGAIN.We walked to 2nd period which was AP Literature with Mrs. Bastion. I sat next to Parker who looked at me and smiled. Suddenly, we saw a new figure. Not someone we had ever seen in this town. She sat down on the other side of Parker. Her black hair in a half up hairdo. Don't get me wrong, she was pretty, but I kept getting this weird feeling about her. She looked up from her bag and her gaze met mine. Wow, her eyes... Savanna what are you doing...
I snapped out of it and paid attention to the board where Mrs. Bastion has already written out assignment for the week. "Write about what you and your friends like to do. Then do it and turn it into a story. If you have a friend in this class, your stories may be similar. NO CHEATING."
This should be easy. I did these all the time freshman year.
"Hey Pac Man, should we do a movie night tonight?"
"Yeah, sounds good. We can invite rose and Marcus."
"Yeah."
That's when I realized... this new girl didn't know anyone in town. I whispered to Parker...
"Hey should we invite mystery girl over... I don't think she knows anyone..."
"Yeah we can. Do you think rose and Marcus will be okay with it?"
"I don't know, but I don't wanna see her fail..."
I looked over at the new girl.
"Hey." She looked up. "Do you maybe wanna watch a movie with my friends and I tonight?"
She nodded her head.
"Okay cool. I'm Savanna by the way and this is Parker."
"I'm Dani. Short for Daniella."
I smiled at her. She smiled back.
Tonight would be a good night to watch a movie. It would be the 5 of us.
Usually at movie nights, we take turns. Last time, we watched it at Rose's house. This time, we would watch it at Marcus's. His basement was perfect for watching movies. And with movie nights came sleepovers. We would stay up so late that we would fall asleep then and there.
After that class, I realized something... Marcus never walked in to Lit. Maybe he just overslept or something. I can't blame him. It is the first day.
I made my way to the library while Parker went to 3rd period. The library was my quiet place even though I was a part of the committee at school. I sat at a table near the window overlooking the town. The whole town was a population of about 5,000 people. It doesn't seem like a lot, but when you think of it, 150 of that population is my graduating class. And even though only the top 10 students make it into any college, no one is guaranteed to make it. I, however, am a part of that top 10, number 3 to be exact. I'm not really worried about whether or not I don't make it. I already have a few colleges in mind. The closest one is in a city outside of bayville, and that's where I've applied to. Of course, I still haven't heard back from them yet, but then again it is only the first day of school, so I should be fine.
I took out my laptop and started working on the article for the newspaper, but I kept looking out of the window. Outside of this town, there's a bigger world. And where will I fit into all of this? I closed my eyes and just let the world fade away for a bit. Staying up most of the night before the first day of school was a bad idea.
