The phone rang during calculus as the students happened to be taking a test. A few heads looked up to see where the sound was coming from. The teacher's horse voice was sounded. "Heather McNamara, Ms. Fleming wants to see you."

Heather looked up with her eyes filled with confusion. She stood up slowly and made her way out the classroom.

Heather Duke raised an eyebrow before scanning the room. "Someone's in trouble, it must be from the little stunt she pulled earlier today." She snickered as some students laughed from the comment.

Mac walked herself down to the front office, her stomach churning. "Hello?" She knocked once softly on Ms. Fleming's door.

"Come in," Ms. Fleming said in the same tone she did with Veronica.

She stepped in the room, standing there awkwardly.

"You're allowed to take a seat, Heather. And relax, you're not in trouble." She chuckled.

"Oh," Heather sat down then began twiddling her thumbs from nerves.

"How have you been?"

"I've been alright, I guess." She shrugged. "And you?"

"I've been well but I wanted to talk to you about something. I had a student come in earlier today saying she was worried about you. She talked about how you've been acting different, do you know what she's talking about?"

"N-no, not at all. I've been p-perfectly fine." Heather stumbled over words, taking in a few breaths.

"That sounds like you haven't been alright.
Heather, don't be scared. This is a safe zone."

"I said I'm fine!" She jumped out of her seat, breathing heavily.

"There's no need to yell." She kept the same caring tone in her voice.

"I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine!" Heather yelled much louder like a three year old throwing a tantrum.

"Heather." She now used a more demanding tone.

Heather ran out of the office with tears building up. She hurried up the stairs, tripping most of the way, and into her calculus class. She sat down as quickly as she could and grabbed a pencil but the bell rang. The students scurried out of the classroom when Heather D approached Mac.

"So, Heather, how did it go? I can see something is wrong." Duke smirked.

"It's none of your business." Mac gulped, picking up her notebooks.

"You're my friend, it is my business." She took Heather's things.

"Well, you haven't been acting like one."

"You're the one who's been the bitch! I've been trying to be a good person, even Veronica can agree with me." She looked offended.

"She only agrees with you because you've been feeding her lies." She sighed, taking her stuff back and headed out of the classroom.

"You think I lie? I'm not the one who goes around spreading a bunch of rumors."

"I don't do that, I've never done that. Here you go again lying."

"Ya'know, you think that you're all that because you're the head cheerleader and that you're apart of the most powerful clique in school. You think that you're the shit. You think that you can call me a lair and everyone will believe you. You think that you're the most amazing girl in this school. You thought that being best friends with Heather would you get you everything." Heather Duke took a few steps closer. "I don't give a fuck about how powerful you think you are. Westerburg isn't going to put up with this attitude anymore." She pushed Mac out of the way before strutting out of the classroom as if she was on a runway.

Heather McNamara tried keep a smile on her face as Duke kept spitting out words. She felt her whole body get pushed to the side making her run into the chalk board. She pushed a hair out of her face and ran into the bathroom. Luckily no one was in there. Mac took the stall closer to the left then sat down, staring at her feet. She bit her lip, crossing her arms. "Be strong, don't cry. You have nothing to cry over. Don't be weak, you're not weak." Tears escaped her eyes one at a time until they all came gushing out. She ran her fingers through her hair, pulling at it. She felt her whole world crumbling around her in little pieces. Is this what you get for being popular? Is this what you get for being human?
