I woke up late on Saturday morning. With squinted eyes and a groan, I flung the covers over myself again, engulfing myself in the darkness.
Of course, not for long when Jack came running inside and jumped right on top of her. His knee collided with my side and I groan, grabbing Greg and making him fall onto the bed and tickling him.
"Good morning to you too Mister." Jack giggles after I had removed my wiggling fingers.
"Mommy wanted me to wake you up." Jack informed, a smile still wide on his face.
"Alright, well let me get changed and I'll be right down." Jack left and I rolled out of bed.
I didn't like getting woken up on the weekends, those were the times I got a break from school, even if it'd just started. I changed from my pajamas and reluctantly went down stairs.
Dinah had left after the movie, saying she had homework to do. Being Camila's friend I was surprised Dinah hadn't brought up the date I had today. Maybe Dinah didn't even know about it. Maybe we weren't close enough to playful teasing. Who knew.
Coming into the kitchen, I was greeted by my mother and step father. I sighed, watching them be affectionate. All I wanted was for my mom to be happy, but there was always the thought of not wanting anyone else but my father to be with her.
"Jack said you wanted to talk to me?" I interrupted, catching the adults off guard.
"Morning Y/N." Steven greeted. I smiled and nodded, looking back at my mother.
"I was wondering what you thought about if me and Steven were gone for a few days?" I rolled her eyes.
They liked to take trips like they were still in their honeymoon phase, yet they'd been together for four years. I wasn't one to intrude on their happiness, but it did get annoying.
"I don't care, I'll make sure the boys are fed and take them to school and all that jazz." I said, slipping away from the conversation.
"Thanks honey!" Was all I heard before I walked out the door, not really knowing what to do but call Normani.

"They're leaving again? How much money does this guy have?!" Normani exclaimed as she scooped her ice cream from the bowl.
Normani had picked me up and we went to their favourite ice cream store in town. I had filled Normani in on the stream of repetitive events.
"He's a business man, he's got cash. I'm just waiting for the whole family to be involved in their adventures." I admitted, scooping the sides of the ice cream to leave a mound in the middle.
"Isn't your date with Camila today?" Normani asked. I nodded. "Do you even like her?"
"All I know is I've dated one guy in grade four and all we did was hold hands and hug before he broke up with me because he liked Jenny in the other class." Normani giggled at the recited story. "I haven't really gotten the chance to explore my feelings. This will help."
Normani gave me a comforting pat on the shoulder. "And I'll love you not matter what." I smiled, reaching to hug my best friend. "Thanks Mani."
We finished our ice cream, tossing it into the trash and walked back to her car. It was times like this I was thankful for Normani. Knowing she would be supportive of who I could be and what I might be, I knew I could always count on her.
Normani drove back to my house, thankfully both my mom and Steven was gone and we raced upstairs. Normani was already in my closet while I sat on my bed, cross-legged.
