As I was packing my horse Jet up for the ride to the front lines, my long term maid, Felicity came running out in a panic. "Miss Ellie! You should take your fathers bow, he would've wanted you to use it at a time like this." She holds out a beautiful yet demonic black bow.
The bow had been my fathers and was past from generation to generation for us to use in our time of need; yet I was sure that the bow was to strong for a useless battle. It was masterfully crafted and the wind spirits sang its praise of the bow with every arrow it shot. Wind Spirits had always loved my family, blessed us with our ability to shoot an arrow with extreme precision no matter how far the target, but the Spirits were known to favor me even more so than usual. "Oh Felicity, you know I cannot use this bow, it would give away my secret of how the Spirits favor me. I shall leave the bow for when I am in DIRE need." I respectfully decline the bow and jump into the saddle. " Now, I must be on my way, they expect me soon. Goodbye, take care of the village while I'm gone."
Trotting out of the barn I begin to make my way to the front lines, it's a long trip only a couple of days on horseback, but I like to be early. Being early wasn't a bad thing sometimes, I would be able to prepare better for the battle by making extra arrows, giving Jet a rest after the trip, and having a nice rest myself. I would also be able to meet a few of the other soldiers whom would be backing me up in battle as I them.
Making my way to the battlefield I encountered many people escaping the the terrible war. Dirty, tired, and hungry people was all I saw for about a mile; I rode up to what I supposed was the leader of the chain of folks, "Do you need a place to stay? Just a while up the rode is my village. We can't offer much but I'm sure you could use a decent rest. Just tell them Lady Ellie sent you and all will be well." I looked a bit behind the older man to see a woman walking up to me, tears streaming down her face.
Although, the tears were not sad as one would imagine, she was smiling! "Oh my, thank you so much, this means so much to us. Our village was destroyed and we had no where to go, we will take you up on your offer. Again, thank you so much, we all will help your people out with anything they need in exchange for such kindness." She grabbed my hand from my reins and leaned her head against it, a sign of high respect to those who knew of the olden ways of nobles. I smiled at her happily, " My village and I would be happy to help any in need, and I'm so sorry I can't escort you, but I must be on my way. I shall take off know, stay safe." I bow my head to them and start off again, to the start of the destruction from the war.
