I walked down the subway like every other day I walk this planet. I sigh and grip my coffee tightly and walk past hundreds of people with red string. I climb the stairs out of the subway and approach my job. I wave to Eliza at the front desk then jump on the elevator. I get to my floor and walk to my office. I flop in my chair and spin to face my computer. I open emails and organize papers around my office but all in all there's nothing to do so I just sit in my office and mess around with things or read. I feel my string trying to get under my skin. My soulmate must be near I thought but I ignore it. I go back to messing around until the tugging stops, I sigh and mentally punch myself for not investigating. My alarm on my phone goes off and I grab my coat then walk to the elevator. I step inside of it and wait a few minutes then I step off it and walk out of the building. I walk down town and look around. I sit in Central Park and watch the sun set, I think back to today. I just lost a chance to meet my soulmate! Gosh you're dumb! Now the only person you'll be dating is your pet cactus!! He mentally hits himself and goes back to thinking.
After the sun finally hide away and darkness took over I walked home. I unlock the door and see my friend Maria and James sitting on my couch watching TV.
"Hey guys" I sighed and put my keys on the counter.
"Hey Thomas" they said together. I sighed and walked over to fridge.
"Anything new happen today?" I said opening the fridge and grabbing a beer.
"Nope"
"Nah"
I nodded and opened my beer. I took a sip then walked to my room. I placed my beer on my desk then sat on my bed and took off my shoes. I walked back over to my desk and sat down, I pulled out paper work from a bunch of my clients. I sigh and shake my head, when will this end? I sign papers and check over them. I get up from my desk and go to my bed. I lay down and close my eyes.

~Thomas' dream~

I walk down the subway and get on to a train. I just got my coffee so I'm sipping on it, the train stops a few minutes later and I get off. I start walking towards the stairs until something pulls on my wrist. I turn around and come face to face with a blurry figure. I open my mouth but no words are formed, I look down at my wrist and see that the red string is connecting me and this blurry figure. Everything goes black......

I'm somewhere else now, I look around and I see two blurry figures. The same one from before and a smaller one, their holding hands. I look down at my wrist to see my string broken and the ends are burning. I do what anyone would do by starting to flip out. I step towards the two figures for help but they just look at me. I reach out with the hand that has my string burning the taller figure puts his hand out and I watch the strings reunite, no longer burning, but the figure was crying and stroking my hand with his thumb.

I shoot up in bed panting, I look at my surroundings to make sure I'm not dreaming anymore. I sigh and rub my face with my hand, I pick up my phone to see what time it is.
"6:00am" I groaned and threw the covers off me and got off the bed. I walk over to my dresser and I pick out a white shirt and a magenta tie. I walk over to my closet and take out my magenta coat and pants, along with my black dress shoes. I get dressed and walk out of my room, grabbing my keys then leaving the house to the coffee shop.

I enter the coffee shop and up to the counter where I see the girl who always works when I come in.
"Hey Thomas, is it the usual today?" She reaches for a medium cup.
"Yeah thanks Sally" I pull out my wallet and hand her cash.
"So Thomas how's it going with you dating your pet cactus?" She giggles, I sigh in response.
When I first met Sally, she asked me out but I ended up telling her that I was dating my pet cactus.....I made a fool out of myself.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny Sally" she keeps laughing.
"Have fun at work Thomas" she waved at me as I walked out the door.

I walk down to the subway and get onto a train. I hold onto the bars that hang above...

...It's time to start my day
