Second chapter is now up! I would like to dedicate this to Ameliethebee , my first wattpad buddy and my friend in real life. She kept telling me to upload a new chappie so I only think it's fair to have it dedicated to her... even though I am not very satisfied with it... anyways! Enjoy!

Chapter 2nd: Bitter gemstone

"And then you multiply it by 2x"

"What? That's ridiculous! It's not possible, you said..."

"I know what I said Logan, that was for the other exe..."

"Riiiing!!!", the bell's screeching sound brought Jackie's and Logan's constant bickering to an abrupt end. "Riing!".

Logan sweared, Jackie squirmed and I remained impassive. One of our friends, Alyssa, snickered.

"And that is what you get when you take up calculus.", she stated in happy, couldn't- care-less manner, "While you guys suffer a slow and painful death by numbers I get to enjoy my Home Ec. Class...."

"Oh, shut up Alyssa", Jackie said already getting up and picking up her tray." It's not the end of the world."

"What are you doing?", Logan demanded, grabbing her arm, "you didn't answer my question!"

Jackie rolled her eyes.

"I will, on our way to the classroom. And now move, we're gonna be late!"

Logan grumbled but he quickly obeyed and the two of them got up to leave.

"You coming Sam?" Jackie looked at me expectantly.

I nodded and bid adieu to Alyssa before I followed the two of them reluctantly to the exit. I matched to their pace just in time to see Jackie slipping her arms into the sleeves of a jacket she previously had tied around her waist. A jacket.

I hit my forehead with my palm in exasperation, causing both of them to look at me curiously at the sound.

"Umm, I forgot my jacket in my locker..." I said tersely, knowing that my words sufficed as an explanation. You see, it was common knowledge in Rooton high school that even the iceberg smashing into Jack's and Rose's "little" ship of dreams was warmer than Mme Christine's classroom. Only a tiny hint of exaggeration being put on the past sentence , that is.

Anyway, the point is, there was no way somebody could survive for an hour in that chamber of torments -especially on a month like February- without having at least three layers of clothing on to protect them. There were of course some exceptions to that rule in the total of the student body but overall the classroom was well nicknamed as "Rooton's Antarctica".

"Want me to come with you to go get it?" said Jackie with a frown etched on her face.

"No, it's fine. You guys go take your seats and I'll be there in no time.". I knew Logan was in no mood to wait around for me.

"Ok, we'll delay the test's beggining for you.", Jackie gave me a warm smile before Logan pretty much pushed her to the opposite direction.

I quickly headed for my locker trying to hide a scowl- as I didn't know what annoyed me the most. Logan's ungratefulness? I had waited for Jackie when he asked me to on the last period, why couldn't he do the same for me now? Or was it the headache he had given me during lunchtime? As soon as he had gotten to our table, he slumped in the seat between me and Jackie and started shooting her with questions, only stopping to flirt with her every now and then before he continued bombarding her.

No, I know what the real problem is, I thought bitterly while opening my locker and taking out my jacket with a bunch of pens and textbooks. It is the fact I couldn't understand a single thing from the questions he asked: I don't talk numbers.
