CHAPTER 8

Seeing her porcelain face finally have color; especially her delicate rosy lips no longer a purple tint, gave me a promising answer that she was going to be okay. When she wakes up, I will do anything in my power to make sure she is safe and content. I leaned forward as I pressed my lips on her forehead. Now it's time I make sure all of my men, do exactly as I say.

"Ciao Santi, I want you to make a meeting in ten minutes at my study with all the leaders of my men and the best bodyguards we have. Tell them with every minute their late, their in a risk of losing a body part. I want you and Marco there as well. Understood."

"Si capito"

I had to make sure my men don't pull another stupid stunt like that ever again. They need to protect and watch her all the time. Sitting there in my study just thinking took my time. A knock distracted me from my mind.

"Entra"

No one dared to speak as everyone entered for the meeting, including Marco and Santi. I got up from my seat walking to the front of my desk leaning on it as I stared at my men.

"I have called all you here to let you know the biggest mistake one of my men has done. Carlo, as you know is dead and has already been disposed of. He was an idiot who made a huge mistake. He had the balls to shoot my woman. She is to be protected at all time. She is not the enemy. I know very clearly who she is and everything about her and I know she is no threat to me or you. If she was she wouldn't be here. Everyone must be attentive and make sure she goes nowhere unless I say so. She must also not be let out, unless you have spoken to me and have gotten my agreement. Now Gustavo, Antonio, Marcello, and Ignacio, you all are to watch her all the time, every day. You must follow her everywhere but make sure she does not see you. Giovanni you must watch her as well and give me every detail that she does. If any of my men dare to hurt her in any way, make sure you are prepared because I will have no mercy as I personally skin you alive, slowly. And trust me when I say slowly I mean it. I won't hesitate to make you feel pain you never experienced before. Oh and one more thing. You may not speak about the organization and you must not let her understand anything we do. We are the Mafia and she must not know, at least not now. Speak Italian with each other all the time. She will not understand at all. Do you all comprehend or do you need me to clarify anything?"

"Capiamo" they declare in union. Knowing my men understood and know exactly how ruthless I can be, was precisely what I intended. That is the way I have to be with them. They must understand I am their leader and they chose to follow me because I am always fair to everyone. I treat them all equally plus every single one of them has the same threats and must be loyal to me. But, I protect my men as well, because they help me maintain my Name as the Main Mafia Boss. They know very well not to mess with me.

"Tutto questo, puoi lasciare."

Everyone leaves except Santi, and Marco.

I turn and glance towards them. "I want to ask you both to please keep an eye on her whenever I can't. I'm counting on you both, my brothers."

"Of course that's what brothers are for." Santi declares with a serious tone.

Marco comes up to me and grabs my right shoulder. "Anything for you and her. She is now family. Mine and Santi's sister-in-law. She shall be treated as family."

I knew I can count on them. They are the only close family I have and can trust them with my life. They would never let me down.

"Both of you should go to rest. It's very late. I shall see you later." With that I left the study heading to my loves room. I gently open the door to her still sleeping face. Only a gentle movement from her chest ascending and slowly descending could be seen, singling to every breath intake she consumes.

Remorse and agony ran through my chest, as fury flashed through every limb of mine. How could I be so stupid and let her get hurt. I had to protect her yet failed. I will never let her get hurt again. If it is in my power and I can prevent it;I will even if it means losing my life for her.

I tuck her in and make sure she is as comfortable as possible. Delicately the hem of my fingers caress the apple of her cheeks. It's refreshing to finally see color on my beloved's face. I've never felt this way before. Something so strong that consumes you slowly, very slowly.

"I vow to you and God that I will protect you with my life, love you till my last breath and give you the happiness you deserve. No one will ever lay a had on you and hurt you again. You have my blood oath. You completely belong to me as I fully, body and soul belong to you, as well. When you wake up, I'll will do my best to forever bring light and happiness to you. My goddess Elisa."
