The MTT brand alarm clock rang out as it struck seven. Papyrus opened his sockets reluctantly, reached out and thumped the snooze button as hard as he could muster. After last night's shenanigans he wanted a rest but couldn't drift off back to sleep and thirty minutes later pulled himself up. He yawned and outstretched his bony arms, shifted to the side and shakily stood up.
He was always first to get up, then the human followed, after was Toriel and finally his lazy brother.
Papyrus sat up on the sofa taking a bite of a pancake he made, another pancake lay beside it for Frisk. Speak of the devil she hopped down the stairs playfully. "Morning Paps!" She spoke. Papyrus grinned "YOU SEEM PEPPY" he responded. Frisk grasped the luke warm pancake as the butter slid around on it. She appeared to be full of energy like every morning. "Yeah ofcourse I am" she replied and her smile dimmered slightly "Hey what happened last night?" She turned her head to the side in curiosity. Papyrus pondered for a second he didn't remember much he was so sleep deprived last night, everything was in a hazy blur. All he really remembered is him and Toriel disagreeing on something and Sans getting hurt. "UHH" Papyrus blinked trying to recall anything else. "I CAN'T REMEMBER MUCH" he said finally, not really wanting to explain it to her anyways. Frisk smiled "It's okay, I was just wondering" Their conversation ended abruptly and awkwardly.
Flowey was the one thing on the skeleton's mind. He just wanted to spend all day with the flower so they could catch up on everything they missed out on doing together. The day rolled by relatively quick, it was a slight bit awkward around his brother and Toriel though. Both of them complained about how bad of hangovers they had and Toriel decided to apologize to Asgore over the phone regarding last night. Papyrus was now glad he didn't stay at the restaurant, if he knew drink would be involved he wouldn't have went at all. Evening sunlight rested outside. Papyrus had spent an hour in front of the mirror, for some strange reason he felt he needed to look his best. He felt extremely excited for the evening ahead.
Finally he plodded past the door of the living room where Sans, Toriel and Frisk sat on the sofa like a family watching something on the tv. Sans straightened his posture as he examined the skeleton who had just rushed past the doorframe. "hey paps, where ya going?" Papyrus didn't really want to answer the question since he felt he was going to end up late. "EM I JUST FELT LIKE GOING OUT.." Papyrus lied. Sans nodded "uh where to?" Papyrus really didn't have time for this "JUST TO EXPLORE THE TOWN" he trembled, not liking the fact that he had to lie but if he told his sibling the truth he would never be able to step foot outside again. Papyrus quickly ran for the door and before Sans could prod any further the door to the house was shut. Toriel looked over at Sans "Do you think this has anything to do with what happened last night?" Sans shrugged and turned back to face the tv screen.
Papyrus sped down the road nearly forgetting to buckle his seatbelt. He was practically radiating with joy and all because he could spend time with his old friend.
As he made his way through the park entrance the small flower popped up just a few feet away. "Howdy Papyrus" Flowey beamed. Papyrus exchanged a similar expression. "HELLO FLOWEY!" "So I was thinking maybe we can go somewhere else today!" Papyrus chuckled "NYEH HEH HEH SOUNDS LIKE FUN, WHERE DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD GO?" Flowey unleashed a few vines and climbed Papyrus' body like a rope ladder so he could attach himself to his shoulder. "I don't know, I was thinking maybe we could just explore the town, I can't really go out there on my own incase I were to get trampled on" Flowey sighed. Papyrus shifted his eyes to his shoulder which felt a slight bit heavier now. "YEAH, THAT SOUNDS LIKE FUN, UM N- NOT YOU GETTING TRAMPLED ON THOUGH THAT SOUNDS AWFUL. I MEANT THE PART ABOUT EXPLORING THE TOWN" Papyrus stammered on. Flowey outstretched a vine using it as an arm to point at the shops ahead of the two.
Flowey however felt less enthusiastic when people stared in fright and horror at the two of them. Papyrus then came up with an idea and bought Flowey a pot and a tiny bag of soil. Papyrus agreed to keep it in his car so his brother wouldn't find it suspicious that he had bought a pot home with no flowers.
The pair of friends had then found a small cafe, ordered some drinks and sat down opposite each other. With Flowey being in his new terracotta pot. "I KNOW A THEME PARK EXISTS A COUPLE MILES FROM HERE" Papyrus gleefully said dragging Flowey back to reality. Flowey pretended to hear whatever he just said and nodded. That wasn't a good decision "NYEH! FLOWEY ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?!" Papyrus whined. Flowey's black beady eyes met the anger filled skeletons "Yeah ofcourse I was" Flowey hesitated. "I GET IT... YOU DON'T LIKE THE WAY THE HUMANS LOOK AT US EITHER" Papyrus mumbled as his body slunk down in the chair. He took a sip of the strawberry milkshake that sat infront of him. Flowey although confined to a pot could still grow out and so he leaned himself forward so he was exactly eye socket to eye with his friend. "They hate us" Flowey spat out the words with a darker voice. "NO THEY DON'T FLOWEY, THEY'VE JUST NEVER SEEN CREATURES LIKE US BEFORE. I DON'T LIKE THE STARING, I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT BUT SOMETIMES YOU JUST HAVE TO SUCK IT UP AND MOVE ON" Papyrus replied in annoyance. He didn't like Flowey thinking like that, Papyrus wanted to help his friend and get him on a better path. "Whatever" Flowey huffed holding a grudge like an unmannered child.
Papyrus carried Flowey around in his new pot, this drew even more attention to the two. Flowey preferred being hidden in Papyrus' scarf. It was warm and comfy in there and he didn't have to face all the human's looks. A small child peered up at Flowey as him and Papyrus were about to stroll past her. Her eyes were exploding with excitement and she could barely form words. "Pr- pretty flower" she clapped her hands at Flowey. Papyrus appreciated her sweet take on the flower but knew things were going to turn sour. And so they did Flowey hissed in return "Piss off kid" his face contorted from his neutral one to a nightmare-fueled haunting one. The girl screamed and ran off. Papyrus' smile was cast off into a disapproving frown. "FLOWEY!" he complained. The flower's facial features were normal again and he directed his attention to the skeleton. "Yes" he smiled smugly. "DON'T FRIGHTEN CHILDREN OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN!" Flowey scoffed and Papyrus' eye sockets twitched ever so slightly "GOD YOU ARE JUST THE WORST!" Flowey found the situation humerous.
After that small ordeal the two were sat on a bench. Flowey felt a strange fondness growing once more to Papyrus but instantly ignored it. Papyrus couldn't think of any conversation starters so the two just sat in silence in front of the sunset like yesterday. Flowey went over what Papyrus had tried to tell him about in the cafe. The flower cranked his petal covered head to face Papyrus. "Hey Papyrus, didn't you say there was a theme park or something around here?" Papyrus' skull flew up and down with happy agreement "YEAH, SANS TOLD ME ALL ABOUT IT. I HAVE A MAP OF THE CITY IN MY CAR AND I WAS THINKING WE SHOULD GO THERE SOMETIME" Flowey perked up, happiness glowing in his eyes. Papyrus loved that most of all, those black beasy eyes were always full of emotions and more than capable of showing them. Even if Flowey's voice or way of thinking wasn't sometimes kind or sweet, the eyes made up for it. "That sounds like fun Papyrus, although I uh don't exactly know what a theme park is..." Flowey stated truthfully. True, he had been on the surface for almost the same amount of time as Papyrus but he hadn't explored or involved himself in learning about the many new things up here.
Then as if out of nowhere Papyrus nuzzled the flower. "YOU CAN BE CUTE WHEN YOU'RE CLUELESS" Papyrus cooed. Flowey blushed in confusion at what the hell just happened. He had no clue how to react, What did Flowey do to change Papyrus' attitude so rapidly? But those thoughts didn't matter because a familiar voice gave away in the distance. Someone saw them...
