It was now Monday, a day had passed since Papyrus and Flowey were reunited. Papyrus was sat in his room observing rain droplets as they trickled down the window pane. Toriel and Frisk were at school and Frisk had a public meeting after school. She had to negotiate plans to help monsters. Sans was in his room, he was writing material for his comedy club. Papyrus despised puns but Sans highly approved and had unfortunately started a comedy club for people to preform them. The slumped skeleton sighed as the thought occurred that Flowey was out there all alone in the rain. Papyrus hoped he was alright, back in the underground Papyrus visited a patch in the forest outside of The Ruins every so often. If it was snowing Papyrus would lend Flowey his scarf to keep him cosy sometimes the two would share the scarf while Papyrus still wore it. Those memories made that scarf precious to Papyrus. The thought that he was out there freezing, with no company and trying to hide from humans most of the time made the skeleton miserable.
Papyrus grumbled as a familiar voice accompanied by a pun startled him "sup bro you seem overcast" Sans stood in the doorway of his brother's room sipping a cup of coffee. Papyrus ignored the pun, standing up to greet his older sibling "HELLO SANS" Sans made a strange expression "jeez something up bro, you seem very different as of late... c'mon talk to your older bro" Papyrus sighed of course his brother would notice, "I- I... I JUST DON'T... DON'T FEEL- HAPPY? I GUESS" Papyrus shrugged "WHAT DOES IT MATTER TO YOU ANYWAY?" Sans paused, this didn't sound like his brother at all! "bro tell me what's bothering you" Papyrus took the question into consideration... but the only answer he could think of was "I DON'T KNOW..." Sans gave an uncertain look "well hard for me to help if you if you 'don't know' what's bothering you, ain't it" Sans strode off and shut the door behind him, drinking his coffee as he went. The younger skeleton moved forward and lay on his bed. Something didn't feel right, he felt as though he was missing something although he couldn't quite put his finger on it...
At dinner he still didn't feel right Papyrus refused to eat as much as a pea. It was clear to see something was wrong. Frisk confronted him but to no avail, Papyrus was distraught to say the least.
That same night he couldn't rest, rain battered heavily against the window keeping him awake. "UHH" Papyrus got up from the bed and attempted to rip the batteries from the Mettaton themed alarm clock. The noise of the ticking had been too loud and annoying. He couldn't take it anymore he needed to know if Flowey was alright. Flowey didn't have a phone (to get him one was already on Papyrus' to do list) so he couldn't text or at least hear his voice over the phone. The large skeleton slipped into some comfy slippers by the side of the bed (they had been a birthday present from his brother). He made his way downstairs and was stunned to find Toriel sitting there in the living room. "Oh hello Papyrus" she smiled weakly, bags hung under her eyes and a lit fire crackled softly by her side. "TORIEL! YOU AR- I- I MEAN WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING UP" she sighed heavily "Correcting spelling tests, you?" Papyrus stammered for a second "UHM WELL I- I WAS LOOKING FOR MY UH..." Papyrus' voice dipped "MY DATING GUIDE BOOK..." Toriel gasped "You didn't tell us you were seeing someone" Papyrus opened his mouth to explain and closed it in an effort to keep his friend a secret "Hey that's why you were acting strange at dinner wasn't it?!" Papyrus nodded slowly "So who's the lovely woman?" The goat asked. Papyrus was taken aback and took a few seconds to reply "CAN'T TELL TORIEL SORRY" Papyrus clambered past a pile of school books lifting the special book from a cluttered shelf. Some other books toppled from side to side as expected. Toriel went back to correcting the sloppy words. "TORIEL, PERHAPS I CAN HELP YOU WITH THOSE" she laughed although it was a meek laugh she was sleepy and it was clear "I'll be alright Papyrus I've got most of them ticked so even if you were to help you'd only reduce my pain to a few less" Papyrus felt sorry for the poor old lady, it was his gift and also his curse, "I'M NOT LETTING YOU LOSE ANY MORE SLEEP, GO UP TO YOUR BED I'LL FINISH THESE FOR YOU". While she appreciated the gesture she couldn't agree "I'm sorry Papyrus but I am the teacher here and these are my duty, thank you for offering help though"
Papyrus decided to leave them with the goat then. Heading to the kitchen to read his old book. This was a book that came from Snowdin's Library since most monsters left the underground in a hurry the library books were to be kept by the monsters who had borrowed them. Papyrus flicked through the pages, last time he had to use this book for advice it was for a date with Frisk. It saddened him a bit that him and Frisk wouldn't work out but Frisk was legally a minor and being an uncle figure for her was something Frisk would appreciate more. Information was scattered along the index 'feelings for others' it was page six. Papyrus promptly arrived there, his eye lights came to a small passage 'relationships are common to start if you know this monster, spending the rest of your life with your best friend may not sound appealing. Although it can actually help boost your affection for that monster rather than meeting a stranger and falling in love with them would' Papyrus was relived to hear that. So it was true he had fallen in love with a flower...
