On a fluffy red and gold Gryffindor bed sat a very unhappy Hermione Granger. Hermione felt upset, very upset. She had just gotten back from a very frustrating meeting with the Headmistress of Hogwarts, Professor McGonagall."Professor," pleaded Hermione. "I can't live in the same dorm with Draco Malfoy!"
"Correction, you don't WANT to live in the same dorm as Draco Malfoy." Replied Professor McGonagall.
"Malfoy hates me! He's always calling me 'Mudblood' or, or making some rude comment about my appearance-"
"Miss Granger, this is the last time I'm going to say it. You were voted as Head Girl, Mr. Malfoy was voted as Head Boy, you have to either refuse the title, or accept the conditions. One of the conditions being the Head Boy and Girl share a dormitory." Recoiled the Headmistress firmly.
"Professor, I'm worried about my safety! What if Malfoy sneaks into my room at night and hexes me?"
"I assure you that will not happen. There are special charms put on the Head Boy and Girls rooms, Mr. Malfoy physically cannot enter you're room, and you cannot enter his."
"But-" Hermione started, but McGonagall cut her off.
"You are excused." McGonagall stood up and Hermione had no choice but to leave.
As Hermione thought back to the conversation she almost wished that she hadn't accepted the title. She had wanted to be Head Girl ever since her first year at Hogwarts, and now in her seventh year she finally had it... only for it to be ruined by one very obnoxious Malfoy.
"No, no, no." Hermione muttered to herself.
I will not let him take my joy away , She thought.
And with that Hermione grabbed her little light brown satchel off the bed and when't downstairs to the Gryffindor common room.
When she got down she saw Ron, Harry, and Ginny all sitting by the fireplace talking.
"Hey Hermione! So what did McGonagall say?" Asked Ginny. Hermione had already gotten a chance to tell Harry and Ron but Ginny had a different class schedule, so Hermione retold the story.
"Well I still say you should have rejected the title." Ron butted in just as Hermione finished telling Ginny.
"That's what I was thinking about doing at first, but then I thought that Malfoy probably expects me to drop out. After all, he knows how much I hate him. If I drop out he wins and I won't let him!" Hermione said a little too loud. A few heads turned, Hermione blushed, and they when't back to their own business.
"If you say so." Said Ron as his brown furrowed.
Things had been somewhat awkward with Ron ever since they decided not to be a couple. They had an on again off again fling over the years, but it just burnt out over the last summer. Ron was with Lavender Brown, and although Hermione wasn't jealous she kinda wished she had someone too.
Hermione was never a 'boy crazy' girl like so many she knew. She always devoted all her attention do furthering her knowledge about the wizarding world, and it had paid off. She was the top student in every class she took, and received very good marks on her O.W.Ls. However, as she got older and saw all her friends investing in significant others it made her very self conscious that she was the ONLY single one. She also felt somewhat lonely. She had Harry and Ron of course but that was just friendship. For the first time in her life Hermione Granger wanted romance.
That being said Hermione pushed away those thoughts and continued to focus on her school.
"Alright," Ron said getting up and out of his chair. "well I'm gonna go meet Lavender."
