logomachy : an argument about words
The season had been going by too quickly for her liking. They had won all of their games so far and were number one in their division, and Georgia had shutouts in all of their games to that point. They were going to start repeating their opponents, which meant they had nine games left until districts. Nine games left until she was done with school. Only a few days left until she had to make a decision of what college to go to. She had gotten numerous offers, some of them full ride scholarships for all four years.
The last bell of the day rang and she exited her AP Literature class. It was Friday, and they had another home game, which meant she could go straight home until they had to be there at halftime.
"Hey, are we still on at your house?" Allison asked as she walked up with Antonio and Trevor behind her. She looked at them with a frown.
"Sorry guys, my parents said no." She attempted to fib, but Antonio saw straight through her lie. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, the four of them starting to walk towards the front of the school.
"I guess we're going to have to not make a mess and head to your house anyhow." He sighed, failing at trying to make a joke out of it. They all laughed as they got out to the parking lot, everyone heading to her car. They came over all the time on home game days, and they all piled into her car because they would just get their cars when they came back for the game. Antonio had been riding shotgun for the past few weeks, which was weird but she did not mind. He turned on the radio to a hip hop and R&B station, and they all rapped along to First Day Out, people staring as they usually did at stoplights at the kids having fun.
Twenty minutes later they arrived at her house, all of the getting out and instantly going to the side door and to the basement where her room was located. When they moved from Brazil, they had got the house and turned the entire basement into her room, even though it was a three bedroom house. She wanted her own space, for she was quite mad when they had moved and refused to have her room near her parents. Those problems had resolved, and she kept the basement. Any of her friends who came over typically made themselves at home in the remaining two rooms if they were staying the night.
Allison and Georgia made a pregame meal, making enough pasta for the four of them and bringing it downstairs, where the guys had already found the Xbox One and were playing FIFA 17. They sat down and watched and ate as Antonio annihalated Trevor in the game. After five rounds, Antonio winning four of those games, they turned on the music and relaxed for the next hour, but then Allison and Georgia got ready for the game, kicking the boys out of her room so they could get into uniform.
"Ready for game day?" Allison asked her as she threw on one of Georgia's soccer t-shirts since she forgot one.
"Hell yeah I'm ready. Who do you think you're talking to?" Georgia asked in return as she threw on her tie dye t-shirt she always wore to warm up in.
"I heard there were going to be scouts today." She stated as she oulled on her shorts and rolled her socks up on her feet.
"Wouldn't be the first time." Georgia stated, grabbing her bag and turning off the lights to head back upstairs. Allison followed and they found the guys in the kitchen snacking on leftover pasta.
"Have you decided where you want to go play?" Allison asked, catching all of their attention.
"I'm debating between Stanford and UNC. They're both offering me full ride scholarships, but they're both across the country and I'm not sure I'll be able to handle that." She responded as she grabbed her keys, signalling it was time to leave. They all followed her, Allison calling shotgun. Georgia started the car and Allison turned on their game day playlist, singing along to Wild Thoughts as they went down the highway. They knew Trevor and Antonio were recording for Snapchat, and then Allison began to, showing the people who followed her it was game day.
