Orphan Escape
Chapter 6
The Truth Hurts
Courtney and Marvin were in disbelief that someone whom they thought would be nice would actually do this.
"What?!" gasped Courtney.
"Oh my gosh! All this time?!" said Marvin.
"I can't believe I wanted to be friends with her!!"
Courtney and Marvin continued listening through the garage door.
"Now get to bed," said Miss Jones. "The brats you pick will be killed on Tuesday morning!"
"Tuesday morning?!" Courtney exclaimed. "Marvin that's the day Franny will be put to sleep! That's the day after tomorrow!!"
Taylor started walking to the garage door.
"Oh no! We have to go! Come on!" said Marvin.
Courtney and Marvin both rushed back inside, ran downstairs to the basement, and locked the door and acted as if nothing ever happened.
"Marvin we can't let this happen!!" cried Courtney. "Miss Jones isn't just a witch! She's a psychopath!! She's going to kill innocent children!!"
"We can't let Taylor get away with this either. Tomorrow, we reveal her secret to the others," said Marvin.
"Really Marvin? That's not going to stop Miss Jones and Taylor from doing this!"
"Well, if we tell the other orphans, they will be aware, and then we can all work out a way to escape.
"But Marvin! Miss Jones, she's too clever!! We're going to die here!!"
Courtney started crying.
"Hey! Calm down Courtney. It's okay. We're not going to die! We will find some way to escape!"
Courtney wiped her tears away.
"How do you know that for sure?"
"Because I just do. Tomorrow, we are getting out of here"
*In the garage*
What Courtney and Marvin missed, was that Taylor didn't actually open the garage door. She just stood there by the open and close button.....very confused and upset. Why did Miss Jones have to be this evil?! Taylor decided that it was about time she stood up to her. Taylor turned around.
"Why are you doing this?!" asked Taylor while looking Miss Jones in the eye.
"Excuse me?" Miss Jones said.\
"This is wrong and you know it!!
"I know," Miss Jones said with pride.
"Then why?!" asked Taylor.
"Because I can!!"
Taylor's eyes began to fill with tears.
"No you can't! They are innocent! They never did anything to you! What do you have against them?!"
Miss Jones was getting very annoyed with all the questions being asked about her horrible decision.
"I hate kids, orphans, and families!!"
"How could you?!" cried Taylor. "It's one thing to hate them, but killing innocent orphans for no reason?! That's so inhumane of you!!"
Miss Jones marched over to Taylor very angry.
"What did you say?!" she asked very aggressively.
"You can't do this!! I won't let you!!" Taylor yelled.
Miss Jones got so angry with Taylor that she raised a hand and slapped her so hard she fell to the ground.
"Don't you DARE tell me what to do young lady!!" Miss Jones screamed. "As long as you are on my side, under my roof, under my rules, you will do everything I say! And if you don't, you too will end up on the electric chair!!!"
"Well I don't want to be on your side!!" screamed Taylor.
"Too bad! You have no choice!! Talk to me like that ever again, and you will wish you never met me!! Do you understand?!"
"I already do-"
"What did you say?!"
"Yes! I said yes!" said Taylor
"Good! That's what I thought!! Now go to our room! Not another word for the rest of the night!!"
Taylor rushed out of the garage crying and ran back to their room.
*The next morning*
Miss Jones and Taylor woke up pretty early; around 7:30 am. Miss Jones got dressed all fancy and went to the loud speaker. She always kept one in her room so that she can get the orphans to do work for her without having to leave the bed.
"All of you wake up and start getting dressed!! I am going out to get breakfast for myself! Until I get back, which won't be for an hour, stay in your rooms! When I get back, you will all eat breakfast and do all the chores!" said Miss Jones into the loud speaker.
Miss Jones walked over to Taylor.
"Start thinking about who you want to go for tomorrow! You have until tomorrow morning to decide. Otherwise, it's to the electric chair with you!"
"I know," said Taylor.
Miss Jones turned to leave the room but then she paused and turned back around and looked at Taylor in the eye.
"Oh and furthermore, if you even think about trying to escape, or tell on me, you will be sorry!" Miss Jones said aggressively.
Taylor looked down at the floor.
"I already am," she whispered.
"What?!"
"Nothing"
"This is your warning Taylor!! You have twenty four hours!"
Miss Jones left the room and slammed the door shut. Taylor began to cry.
After Miss Jones left, both Courtney and Marvin got out of their rooms and knocked on all of the orphan's doors, except for Taylor's. All the orphans opened their doors.
"We need all of you in the living room with us now!" said Courtney.
"There is something serious going on that you all should know," said Marvin.
Bailey and Autumn didn't like the sound of that.
"How serious?!" Bailey asked.
"You're scaring me," said Autumn.
"Just come downstairs!" Marvin demanded.
"Okay okay......jeez," said Bailey rolling her eyes.
All the orphans except for Taylor went downstairs to the living room/lobby area.
"Last night," Courtney began. "Marvin and I got back very late. And Miss Jones punished us from no dinner tonight and made us sleep in the basement and-"
"We know," said Kendal cutting her off
"How?" asked Marvin.
"Please! Miss Jones was screaming so loud, she SCARED me awake!" said Autumn.
"Me too!" said Bailey.
"Same here! But she took my teddy!!"
"We know. Were so sorry Kendal," said Autumn. "And we're sorry about your dog that you never told us about Courtney!"
"Well, I found out," said Marvin.
"She told me," Kendal added.
"Sorry," said Courtney. "I haven't gotten the chance to tell you both either. But are you guys done yet? We need to tell you now!"
"Sorry, continue," said Autumn.
"So after we got thrown into the basement," Courtney began. We overheard Miss Jones telling Taylor to go with her to the garage to show her something.
"Really?!" Kendal exclaimed.
"Yes. So of course," Marvin began. "We got suspicious. Especially because of what she had told us yesterday. So we managed to get out and sneak to the basement to investigate. And this is the result."
Marvin showed Kendal, Bailey and Autumn the footage he and Courtney had caught on his camcorder of Miss Jones' master plan with Taylor.
"OH MY GOSH!!! TAYLOR IS WORKING FOR MISS JONES?!" screamed Autumn.
"Yes. And our lives are in danger too as you can see!" said Courtney.
Kendal started sobbing.
"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!"
"It's okay Kendal! We won't let this happen." Marvin promised
"I hate Taylor!! I can't believe I ever wanted to be friends with her!!" yelled Bailey.
Sad and worried, Taylor entered the living room/lobby area.
"Guys. What's going on?" asked Taylor.
"You dare ask what's going on?!" said Courtney.
Taylor was very confused.
"Wait, what?"
"Don't play dumb Taylor!!" yelled Marvin. "We know what you're up too! Explain this!!"
Marvin showed Taylor the footage and Taylor watched it.
"Guys!! I swear!! It's not what it looks like!!" Taylor yelled out of fear.
"Really?! Because I think this is everything what it looks like!!" yelled Bailey.
"So all this time you were working for Miss Jones, and now you're planning to take our LIVES with her?!" yelled Autumn. "What is wrong with you?!"
"Guys! Please!! It's not what it looks or sounds like!! Please just let me explain!!"
"No one wants to hear your garbage Taylor," said Courtney angrily. "We have all tried so hard to be friends with you, but today, we realized that we almost became friends with a psycho. And that is sick!!"
"No! I'm not a psycho!! You have to hear me out. Please listen to me!!" Taylor pleaded.
No one answered.
"Kendal? "Taylor said.
Kendal looked Taylor straight in the eyes.
"I hate you Taylor! I thought you were nice, but you're not!"
"No one wants to hear you. So if you don't mind, get out of our faces and never speak to us again!!" Bailey demanded.
"Guys!! Please don't be like this! I know I was so rude to you, but you have to let me explain!"
"Get out of our faces now Taylor!! We're not going to say it again!" Marvin demanded.
Taylor ran away crying.
"She is so pathetic," said Bailey.
"Yeah," said Courtney.
"So, what are we going to do?!" asked Kendal.
"Don't worry Kendal. Well think of something," said Courtney.
Marvin looked at the five bare key holes at the front door and came up with a brilliant idea.
"I got it!" Marvin exclaimed. We will search for all five keys tonight!
"Wouldn't it be easier to just bust a window or escape from the back yard?" asked Courtney.
"Yeah. If there wasn't an alarm system, maxi glass, or electric fence. Courtney this is the only way!
"But Marvin! We will get caught! And like you said: Miss Jones is super clever. What chance do we have of escaping without getting caught?!"
"Well none if we don't try."
"You know what? He's right guys! We can't let Miss Jones or Taylor continue to walk all over us like that. So who's in?"
"I'm in!" said Bailey.
"Me too!" said Autumn
Kendal started jumping.
"Me three!"
"Great! Now gather around and I'll tell you guys the plan," said Marvin.
All the orphans huddled up in a circle.
"Okay, so here's what we'll do!" whispered Marvin.
*In Miss Jones' Room*
Taylor was sobbing her eyes out because she lost all her friends, and if she doesn't pick the orphans she wants to go on the electric chair, she will be put on there. Worse: nobody wanted to hear her side from the night before. Taylor cried so much that her mascara ran and her eyes are tomato red.
Taylor got up, walked to the mirror and started talking to herself.
"What have you done Taylor?!" she said to herself. "Everyone thinks you're a sick psychopath! I lost everything...."
