I was told I had a few days until I popped. It was a week later and I was laying in a hospital bed in America. I was in absolute agony.
"DIMITRI BELIKOV THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" I screamed with clenched teeth. I was squeezing his hand so hard I know I have at least bruised it.
I wasnt fully dilated or ready to push yet but I was still in an awful amount of pain.
At the moment its just me, Dimitri and the midwife in the room. I was sucking on gas and air like it was keeping me alive.
"Can I have any painkillers?" I begged my midwife. It was getting unbearable. She checked my notes and smiled at me.
"You can have an epidural if you wish," she said. I nodded needing any type if pain relief.
She sat me up on the edge of the bed and I leant forward a little bit. She pulled out the massive needle. Dimitri saw it and went pale in the face.
"Dont you dare vomit on me comrade," I warned. He shook his head and faced the opposite direction. After they put it into my back Dimitri turned back around.
"You should sleep Roza. You have a little while to go yet," he said as I laid down. I nodded and closed my eyes. I could still feel a slight pain but it was bearable.
I dont know how long I had been sleeping for when I felt a big drop in my stomach and the need to push came.
"Dimitri get the nurse," I said trying to stay calm.
"Why what's wrong?!" He asked frantically.
"They are coming. I have the need to push," I winced when I felt a contraction.
He hurried out the door to get the nurse. These babies were coming and they weren't waiting for anyone.
"Okay Rose on the count of three... one, two, three. Push!" The midwife said.
I grunted and groaned as baby number one went closer and closer to freedom. It was pure agony.
Each push worse than the last.
My body felt weak.
"I... cant... it hurts," I said breathlessly when I was asked to push for the fifth time.
"Yes you can Roza. One more push and one of our babies will be here," Dimitri said placing a cold flannel on my forehead.
I scrunched up my face and pushed as hard as I could. Thats when I felt the relief if a baby coming out of me.
"Its your little girl," the midwife said. Dimitri cut the cord and held her.
"Little Sofia Rozalina," Dimitri cooed over her body. I smiled weakly with teary eyes at the scene before me, which was short lived when I felt the pain once again for our little boy to be born.
"Okay Rose.... Push!" The midwife said.
After 7 large pushes and alot of screaming and tears little Alexei Ivan was delivered.
"Well done Roza," Dimitri said with teary eyes whilst he looked over his children.
I felt a pain and a gush of blood leave my body. The midwife looked worried at the doctor. Dimitri looked up fir split second, saw the panic in everyones eyes.
"Whats wrong?" He asked.
"Erm, Rose seems to have bleed out. Its alot more than usual so we are just going to put her on a drip and do the best we can to find out why it happened," the nurse said without making eye contact.
I must say the blood loss made me sleepy, which was heightened by the fact I just pushed two humans out of me.
"Tell them I love them. I love you comrade. Take care of them," I said in a whisper as I let my eyes close and drift into darkness. The End.
Im joking. This isnt the end. But is it for Rose?
